Longboard for a longboarding n00b.

Dunno about locations for you to buy at, try some online ordering if you can't find anything local. www.bustinboards.com is a sick sick company, and their complex deck would be pretty good, its a sick all around beast. But if your not into that, I'd recommend a long pintail as a learning board, just keep the trucks loose so you can carve it out.

i called a place nearby that says they have a 48" sector 9, and that it's sick and i need to come take a look at it. what do you guys say?

i have a 38 inch, i dont like them to long, its really all about how you feel, 4 of my friends all had different ones, i tried theres, and bought one off of what i felt comfortable with, whichever one you get tho ur gonna love so its not that big of a deal

yeah bustinboards is amazing. i wanted one, but i decided to get something for a bit less $$ for my first board...

i actually ended up getting a Black Label Emergency for my birthday. i know nothing about what people say about them, but being a beginner it works out great for me.

You gotta think about it like skis. Carving skis more than park skis. 

Softer boards give a more relaxed ride, and a more forgiving ride. Stiffer boards are more agressive... however some boards are more dead than others (meaning they will flex and hold the flex) while others want to spring out of turns.
You have already decided you want a longer one, which i would have recomended anyways.

For the actual turning, some people like stiffer wheels so they can slide them. I have never liked sliding, so i get the softest wheels i can. Sliding when you aren't expecting it is the shittest thing ever.
Also, there are two types of trucks... the regular skate style trucks and longboard trucks, where the kingpin is reversed... it's pretty easy to spot the difference. Personally I hate the feel of longboard style trucks, I use skate style trucks. get wide ones for stability.

I have a long, dead not poppy board. If you want a softer board, you can look at the sector nine bamboo decks. Most of the regular wood ones are more poppy than the bamboo ones, i like the bamboo better.

Yo, if your looking for a sector 9 go to NOTB (north of the boarder) in Salem, NH. its above ski haus. They have a nice long Bamboo sect.9. theres also a few others... theres not a lot of stores in southern NH that sells logboards sadly. Might wanna check out snowboard jones in Manch also... i dunno if they carry longboards though.
