I found some Beef in the fridge

How long does it take for beef to go bad? It says "sell by Jul 18"

but thats just a sale date...theres no consumption date. It smells fine.


Is it Good? Bad? Or maybe I'm just dumb for asking kids over the internet whether or not I should eat questionable beef.
