It was a joke, he was saying the guy did absolutely no work but was still getting paid. He was fired.
I like anon goggles and they sponsor a good friend of mine. I honestly don't care how core a company is or any of that bullshit. To me, it doesn't matter if they sponsor skiers or not, that doesn't really affect me. If I like a product, I'll buy it. I'll keep skiing regardless.
This whole rumor doesn't make a ton of sense to me anyway. They will continue with their skier contracts but drop their team. Those two don't add up. Are they dropping the team following this season?

I don't agree. I started out snowboarding as a Burton customer 10 years ago...their products have hit rock bottom. Nothing lasts. And it's way over priced. I should go find a Burton thread and rant...

my freinds are way into them but they're always bitching about fogged goggles and won't admit that anons suck, my 3-4 year old spys kick the shit out of any brand new anons

I might be mad if Anon made high quality lenses...so in other words, I'm not mad.

You must have some shit luck then. Pretty much all of my outerwear, socks, thermals, & gloves are Burton. I've got two jackets that I have used for two seasons of riding plus just wearing in winter weather and they've held up great. Same goes with the pants. I just justified buying myself new stuff based on the fact that I wanted some different colors/patterns & I haven't gotten any new outwear in a few years. I'll still be wearing my older stuff this season and it's going on 3 winters with them. Maybe their hardware has dropped in quality, but I wouldn't know. Going on to travel gear, my bags have also traveled a ton and are holding up great. The zipper is starting to stick on one bag, but its probably traveled through the airports 25 times in 2 1/2 years.

Wow, I must say I'm truly impressed. I have seen shit quality out of their boards, bindings, goggles and gloves. I used to be a devoted Burton customer. But over the few years, my experience along with co-workers has not been good. I won't buy their gloves or goggles now, nor will I ever purchase another board or bindings, until I see they have brought back their commitment to making quality stuff. I truly believe they have become more about the name than the product.

I really wanted to try anon goggles but every time I would have cash, I would go and try them on and the quality and style was just so poorly constructed that I would walk out of the shop with something else. I'm more of a Smith guy anyway.

^agreed. I have two pairs of figments.. wouldn't rock anything else unless it was scott/electric.
Mine never fog.. and as far as I am concerned have the best fit (for me). Plus they look dope.
I don't really care if its burton.. so what.

I've had the worst luck with SPY -- lenses pop out, their design cuts low under the eyes...

Why would they do such a thing.

it's funny hearing everyone bash Anon in this thread when not 2 or 3 seasons back, if that, everyone was on Anons nuts. The figments were probably, I would say, one of the top 3 desired products of the year when they first came out. Everyone wanted them, except me, more of an Oakley guy.

really? before they sponsored skiers they were for the most part a goggle company that solely catered to half of the winter sports industry because anon were considered snowboarding goggles. by sponsoring skiers they largely brodened there buyer base. burton doesnt realy care about skiing, they care about makin that money

Trust me now, believe me later. Those athletes that had two year deals in place (07-08) being the second year of their two year contract, are the only ones that will be on Anon this season. They supposedly are not running any ads these year and have not re-signed anyone else. This from an inside source---me. I personally think Anon makes tight product, but the bottom line is I don't think that they give a ratt's ass about skiers. Support companies that support skiers...Scott, Smith, Oakley, Electric, Spy. It was nice thinking for awhile that snowboard companies cared about us....we don't need them

well if everyone were like you there would be no such thing as marketing through sponsorship of riders....
and dont even pretend that seeing your favorite rider rock something neat does not give you the tiniest inclination to buy it. marketing through athletes works, anon realized this. as everybody else in the world has, except for YOU

its cause skiing is catching up to snowboarding and progressing alot faster, and soon its gonna pass it. and they cant admit it.

maybe not your personally, but it will influence a lot of people. A lot of kids will rock gear because their favourite rider rocks it.

well if it doesnt incline you to buy them. the the fact that anon has skiers on their team exposes you to their product more and as a result inclines you "check them out" as you said. so their marketing idea worked.

on the door of the burton factory in burlington it says no skis allowed, maybe that says something

The sign may say "No Skis Allowed" but nowhere does it say "No Money Allowed."
Maybe Pollard will go somewhere with substance now...Oakley, Smith, and Scott HAVE to come knocking.

I'll second that. I have mittens from them that're 6 years old, socks that're 4, and a bunch of other stuff that's still rockin. A friend of mine has a bag from 8 years ago. Every time he breaks something on the bag, he heads to the headquarters in btown and they give him a new one when all he wants is a new clip.
I think the only risk to them and their name is them moving the headquarters to Cali, where the rest of their offices are.

Oh come on guys... it's a snowboarding company. Sure, I'll still wear it, but Anon wouldn't be near the top on my list of brands I would buy from:
Oakley
Smith
Spy
Scott
