yea a couple good trades went down for boston today. gagne will really help the sox bullpen and the celtics are supposed to be one of the best teams in the conference.
eric gagne means absoultley nothen for the sox, the redsox have one of the best pitching staffs out there, gagne is washed up, he used to be good but not anymore, the last thing the sox need is a closer or a releiver like him, with paplebon, okahjima, and the rest of their bullpen. They gave up one of their top young pitchers, gabbard as well, it wont hurt the sox, but definitley not a great trade, they should of went for jermane dye
he had been doing good but it was only a couple of starts. He is not that highly touted. They have other young pictures that are better (lester, bowden, buckholts). And dye has not even been that good this season. Pitching wins not hitting.
honestly this means that every team the socks play with have to rely on getting all of their runs in the first six innings. Sure Gabbard was a huge loss even though he is a rookie with only a few stars under his belt but this just deepins in sox pen more.
i completely disagree. jermaine dye would have done shit. he is 33, past his prime, and having a horrible year. the sox are already set with the outfield. gagne was a great pick up because now we have a left and right handed setup man. and, brendan donnelly is injured for the rest of the season. curt schilling is coming back so gabbard will get moved to triple A anyway. great pick up for the sox
