Makes me not want thward or surface. please. stop?. please. I don't see Armada ragging on how shitty we all know 4frnt is. don't make me buy a snowboard!
It's kind of sickening. Our industry, our little niche, in the big scheme of things, is worthless. We should at least have some unity, and within that union...personality. There is room for all of us, banded together. Let's all have a touch more fun, make some skis, ride some skis, you can make some money as a company enabling the riding of skis...we can't get there eating ourselves alive before we go for bigger and better things.
I can throw over 55 different gang signs in one minute.
It's not that I dislike Surface or Thward, I dislike how people, some connected and some not, to the companies, are defending and attacking the other. More so on the Thward love side sadly enough...
I think and ill-will or mal sentiments in threads should stop as of now. You can be provoked and taunted, but remember, it is only internet text anyways...it's not worth a response.
I want to point this out and then I'll go back to random phrases...
Mike, Jordan, Ian and myself (Blake). From my point of view, I haven't seen any or very little substantial direct responses to any of the bickering and bullshit in any of these topics from the people listed. I have tried to be completely neutral or non-existent in the majority of these threads, as well as what I've seen from the others. The posts that do exist tend to fall in the lines of, to each his own, love us or hate us, we're just here providing something for others. Take it as you may. No bashing. No hating.
My point is, the people behind Surface and Ninthward (as far as I know) aren't the people instigating these topics and fueling them with biases. We're here to have fun and trying to bring something new for you to have fun with too. And we know we're not the only ones doing that, so don't take that as a claim.
Landis doesn't count. He's the new guy. New guys are still learning.
...and P.S. many of the Thward backers are created names and extra aliases made by some of the thward cronies and company friends out in tahoe and upper california...and guys themselves.
i have a similar response to fidel up there.. in my mind surface has done soo much good for skiing and to see someone bash it angers me when people are so close minded!
and as blake said i have never found a comment by anybody directly involved with surface react negatively to any post about any other company idea or style!
and i think that very fact is why so many kids are attracted to surface as a brand is they are so open to new things!
i know i got a little offensive in some of the threads.. but it comes down to the fact that not everybody is so open minded to changes in this stupid sport of sliding on snow that i love so much.... that bothers me a lot!
Ninthward and Surface are more controversial than Armada and 4FRNT because they have distinct images. 4FRNT and Armada may not be owned by some huge conglomerate, but they're still just ski companies. There's nothing to hate on. What are you gonna say, "Eww, you make SKIS? Your riders won X Games medals wearing the same lime green Oakley pants as me? GAY!" It would be like hating on Burton. It would be much easier to hate on Technine or Rome. But snowboarders have much more divesity style-wise, so the gangsters and heshers and gaper-steezers all ride together and get along. They're just a few years ahead of us on fashion trends, like always (flannel shirts, trucker hats, baggy pants, bright colors). Give it a few years, and "how do I sew my pants tight?" threads will be all over the ski gabber.
No, not everyone wants tight sewn pants. Not everyone wants to be gangster. Some people do some people don't, therefore we need all sorts of companies that cater to people, but support each other...starting by riding together.
As for what can you say about 4frnt...you can say a whole lot. Armada can say how terrible the quality was (is), how douchy one of the owners (no names mentioned, but it rhymes with lenz) is, or how the company is good for nothing...how poorly constructued the skis are, how they
There is nothing wrong with lime green pants...doesn't everyone wearing lime green pants equal to a bunch of people wearing tight brown / denim pants?
damn i was off of here for a few months and all hell breaks loose on surface, Im making a gangster ass Hood edit with me on surfaces 100% of the time, help kill the tight pants myth, funny kids think it matters but ill got to the bar and have drink with jordan in my 4x tall some mesh shants and a new era, while hes rocking what he rocks we're still homies cuase we ski and have fun, just stick to having fun fellas thats #1 ignore the boards. Ill post up the edit here first for the exclusive sneak peak.
