hey i feel like a total noob for posting this so dont liek crucify me on this. but after taking a couple of bad spills on rails last season, im more or less pretty scared of them. so i was wonderin if i could get some tips on how to hit them or how you guys hit them.
Keep your weight as centered as you can... start off on nice low wide boxes to get you confidence up. As with anything you need to be commited so if you build confidence on easier boxes you will be more able to commit when you get to bigger more difficult rails and boxes. So commit..centered weight and look at the end of the rail the whole time.
the trick is...dont be a pussy(contructive critisism im not trying to be a dick.) just go for it, you cant wimp out of it halfway through or youll get more hurt than you orrigionally would if you had confidence. seriously, its like doing a trick for the first time, you go off the jump, and you have confidence, and you almost land it, but you fall. you say, woah, that was sweet, you try it again and you nail it. now what if you go off the jump without confidence in yourself, and you totally just bail and get all disconbobulated in the air, then you get mad fucked up. basically, the point im trying to make is believe in your own skills, go for it, dont pussy out, turn a full 90 degrees, look at the end of the rail, stomp the mother fucker, and ride away thinking your the awsomest dude ever.
screw you man. hey brotha just have confidence that your gonna stomp it. go into it with the right speed wide stance, 90 on keep centered with a wide stance then 90 out
as weird as this sounds, i broke my collar bone falling off a rail last year, and when i got back, i tore it up on rails(relatively speaking) but for real, my confidence went way up after that.
Not sure that will help. Uhh, what always helped me was just to take a couple of breaths before hitting said rail, then clearing my mind right before i ollie. If you think too hard-especially about falling-youll eat it hardcore.
Oh one thing that helped me a lot was picking up longboarding. Just getting used to standing sideways helps a lot! Also, it sounds weird, but get really good at running and jumping on the board, at like any angle and any speed... that helps for getting on.
not trying to be a dick at all, but you'll definitely get even better info if you type in "rails" in the searchbar, theres already tons of threads on this. they should give you some good pointers.
basically though, keep your weight forward/ balanced, DONT LEAN BACK, look at the end of the rail, and just go for it. start small and you won't die when you fall. trust me, once you get more confident on them, rails are so much fun. goo luck
as much of a dick move as it is to say that. doods right.
just man up and dont stop hitting it till you figure it out. A million people can sit there on there keyboards and tell you the same thing, pop turn look at the end of the rail and keep ur weight forward, but untill you go out and do it, youll keep getting gaysted by grind bars.
Last year was the first year I started hitting rails and as the year went on I found if you just stay commited and actually plan on doing the whole rail you will slide alot further and it will be much steezier. Whenever I tried a new rail last year I would tell my self I was going to try and slide the first half and bail off but dont do that thats a terrible way to learn new rails.
