Controversy
The Discovery Channel and Channel 4 are reviewing the Man vs. Wild program following reports that Bear stayed some nights in hotels when viewers were given the impression he was "roughing it" in the wild.
I posted a while ago how fake he was. 90% of the shit he does is more harm than good if youre actually trying to survive, he does what produces shock value because good survival techniques are boring. If youre hungry you dont search for a diamondback rattlesnake and try to hit it with a stick. But it's boring to pick berries or eat seeds and boring isnt good TV. I know one of the lead instructors at the SAS indoc facility and he's never heard of the guy. So I think he's entirely BS, lol.
Bear's show is a better man-watching, worm-eating contest show.
Bear is a big dude, yet he travels around with a whole crew to carry his shit.
Survivorman is pretty much a twig yet he survives with less showmanship, and all the while hes lugging around 40-60lbs of cameras, lenses and batteries. And every shot you see of him walking around from far away, you have to remember that he walked allllll the way out, placed the camera, then filmed himself walking across the field or whatever, then went back, grabbed his shit, and went on.
Lets just say if I were stuck in the jungle and wanted to survive, I'd rather have survivorman on my crew
so much better he has to carry around 60 lbs of cameras by himself and does all the filming alone. And the places he has been is more remote like staying afloat in a life raft in the caribbean
I love this guy. Hes so hardcore, well that is if hes not faking it, which i hope hes not but even if he is it doesn't matter 2 me i watch that show and it looks pretty real.
hes real. i mean his camera crew probly has tents with blow up matresses and iphones to watch porn on but he does stay in his little lean tos and stuff because i think he enjoys it. he drank his own piss for goodness sakes
If you're concluding in that paragraph that Bear wasn't even a SAS then you're retarded. When you go into that kind of service, they have documented information about it, you can't walk on T.V. and say that without being it. If you took your hand out of your pants for one second and watch Man vs. Wild instead of bashing it, you'd find out that Bear infact DOES eat berries, DOES climb tree's for fruit, and coincidentally DOES kill Rabbit's by chucking a stick at them. Ever consider that he KNOWS where to find food? (His survival guide probably told him where to look, right?) I don't think it's naive to believe that he RESEARCHES his area's and finds out about it before he goes in. 90% of the shit he does is more harm then good? I'm sure finding sap ("Dragon's Blood") to use on cuts does harm if you're cut up, Mr. Tree Expert, or perhaps using Coconut oil as a natural sun protection? Maybe, jumping into a freezing cold river to show us viewers the proper technique of escaping it is "fake", made in the studio I'm sure. When it comes down to it, it's entertainment and a learning experience, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dissapointed to hear that he was staying in Hotels, but that's the business for you. Just like they used to rig gameshow's, or like they have a screen-writing staff for "The Real World", it's television. Man vs. Wild, possibly partly untrue, is STILL a great show because it's entertaining, Bear does incredible stunts, and furthermore the things they show him actually doing are still more spectacular then Les Stroud. I mean, if you get your jolly's up hearing a fat guy bitch about getting camera shots for an hour, watch Survivorman. For all of us who enjoy watching Bear Grylls kick ass killing bunnys and eating rattlesnakes, we'll stick to Man vs. Wild.
one thing i can not stand about bear is his lame stories. its always "just 10 weeks ago a man was caught between two lions and busted ou the moon walk and the lions ran" well not that bad, but his story just cut into my time. i wanna see man vs. wild not man tells me stories about dumb ass hikers.
ok the show is made to show you how to survive in the wild...even if the guy stayed in a hotel, he still know's how to survive any situation if need be, ive seen him make a boat out of branches and kill fish with a ground up toxin he found in a plant... Fake? far from fucking fake
man vs. wild is the best. i just enjoy watching it but i never remember the stuff he does so it wouldnt help me if i were ever in that situation but i doubt ill ever be
