if surface doesnt do that they should be good.

ninthward is "financially secure" because its owner has outside wealth
surface is sick, something diffrent

i don't think they are "something different" really. they're a ski company. just because they're all the rage, have an artsy fartsy personna, and their riders wear tight pants(?)does not make them something different in my book. i havent skied their skis, maybe they're sick...but personally i think the whole image of the company sucks.

Not anymore... Landis Tanaka.
Yea, the Ninthward guys were dicks to everyone, and they sorta got that "gangsta" shit going on. Something funny I noticed a while ago is that if you look at their dealers page, most of them are in Japan... now what does that say about them?

i havent seen any other "artsy fartsy" ski companies. seems like its something different. personally i love the feel of the company. more relevent to me than XXXXXL shit and tall tees. and i bet theyre dope skis

Really Dope, those guys know their shit when it comes to designing skis, they helped design some of the most popular skis out on the market from other companies.

Thier skis are 'dope' end of argument. If you really dont like a company because so and so wears 'gurlllzzz pantz!one111' then you my friend should grow up.

Saying surface isn't "something different" is not true. Incase you haven't noticed pretty much the entire ski community follows the gangsta baggy ass trend. Why? because that's what companies are putting out and that's what they see pro's wearing. Now I know most of you 14 year old kids are gonna come on here thinking you know everything saying that that style is you and you would be wearing it regardless. Cock and Bull shit, and I'm not saying that if now all the company's abandoned the gangsta style you would too, maybee you've already established that as your style but what I am syaing is that if right from the start all of the companies, if Tanner Hall when he blew up, where wearing tight pants and being artsy that 90% of skiers would have that image. Then there'd be some company who didn't buy into it selling 3XL ski pants and stuff and they'd be getting ragged on. If Surface where to gain some popularity and get bigger kids would start seeing a variety of styles they can acctually chose from, everyone won't look the exact same on the mountain and the heavens will glorify us, jesus will return and all will be wonderfull
What I'm trying to say is open your mind and quit being brain washed.

we have been for two years already. No offence, there are no real hardcore ganstas in 9. Im sure that if they actually went in the ghetto they would be the FIRST to shit them selves. The thug thing in skiing is starting to just play its self out....which is a GREAT thing. Talking to everybody that you love to shot your glock at stuff, while telling your fanbase to fuckoff at every second is NOT good for skiing.

if you look at the snowboard industry you see a lot of diversity which is just another word for something different. This diversity grew out of the necessity of niche companies, companies that fill a small yet specific interest. And thats what wee are seeing here with surface, they have developed a certain attitude associated with their brand that "indie" kids can identify with. Options to the status quo are always good and in turn surface is good

skis are skis, companies are companies, buy what feels right and not what looks right.

If you noticed, I didn't mention one thing about their image that people think of them. I am talking about the skis. So your post has no relevance to mine.

andrewT, i think KT means they're not bringing anything new to the table as far as ski technology goes. i think the idea of a company who's doing something different marketing-wise, as surface is doing, is really cool, and its cool that they're gaining a following for that, but i've skied on stuff from smaller companies in the past, and the product was just not up to par with what the bigger companies are putting out. i'm not saying that surface puts out a shitty product, cause i havent skied them, but from looking at the ski and what they have to say about its construction on their website, it doesnt seem all too different from a lot of stuff out there.

true true. However they don't really have a budget to make more skis and it is most important to have standard skis that have technology proven to work well. I don't know what all they have planned with their skis in the future but they're making what they wanna ride. I can't really defend the skis, i've never riden them so I'll just quit talking about them altogether now

By no way in which does MALONE's comment of "FUCK NINTHWARD" represent the sentiments of anyone but MALONE.
...but seriously. Surface is great. They're a fun company.

most people who hate on them don't do it because of the quality of the
skis, but on how poorly, up to this point, they have done as a
company. Which is pretty much completely justified seeing they have
been basically fucking around for several years. Could also be due to
the fact that they are complete douchebags. But we don't need to get into that here as most on here should know about that.

as far as surfaces skis go ... i have been lucky enough to ride pretty much every ski coming out next year from every company and i didnt find a single ski i liked more than my surfaces......
my watch lifes have 80+ days of hard park riding on them and are primo no edge cracks minor minor topsheet chips and they still ride like they did on day 1!
my live lifes have over 100 days on them and not one single problem...nothing!

Surface and Ninthward are at total opposite ends of the spectrum. Both a legit and dope in there own ways. I heard ninthward just ran into trouble with suppliers demanding money about 2 years ago when they didnt have it yet. the craze for them has just disapeared.

Do you know what hypocrisy is? Cause I've read through that post a few times and can't find anything that seems anything like it. And why did you quote the emo kid song?

exactly. if they wanted to represent "somethign different" style-wise...why aren't they a tight outerwear company?
the watch life is basically an msp.
MSP
114 87 105 171
122 92 112 181
WL
116 mm 82 mm 110 mm 171 cm
122 mm 87 mm 112 mm 181 cm
as for the live-life...a park ski is a park ski, unless extremely stiff or sloppy.
i don't want to hate on surface, but they try SO FUCKING HARD to be different, but they end up being different in image alone. the analogy i've made before is that they're like apple, you find yourself wanting their product due to the hype alone. their entire company is based on "being different"....back it up surface.
make a shitload of rev camber skis.
fuck around with different cambers.
dye the cores or something to make a different graphics system..
make a super-cheap superfat (a 1 year cheap ski for parkrats...)
anything really...

your friend got a pair of ninthward samples. that doesn't mean fuck.
and to people who think ninthward is struggling, you should see what they are pulling off in europe and they are blowing the fuck up. so learn your shit before you talk shit bitches.

they didn't get skis produced last year and made no money, but that didn't slow them down? is there even a shop in the us that will carry them anymore? after years of lying and not delivering product, what shop would want to have anything to do with them? campbell's grandpa must be tired of throwing so much money away every year so campbell can pretend he's not a spoiled little piece of shit.

too bad you don't know that the factory actually fucked up every pair of 9ths so they COULDN'T deliver product. learn your shit.

alot of skis have similar dimensions
so thats pretty irrelavent
and the live lifes arent a park ski
they arentr trying that hard it just seems like that to you because its so diffrent
a 0 camber ski, i dont think any companies are coming out with skis like that

I love when companies do that. I also love when blame is passed. I further love the fact Thward won't come to the kids they support and are supported by (I mean that with sincerity) and tell them "hey, look, we had problems with our manufacturer, we're still a smaller company so that happens sometimes, next year will be great and we'll make it up to all of you"
...but they haven't really done that. They're just told people with tight pants to shut the fuck up...or to learn shit.
