ski height schould be determined by weight/ability. Im 6'1 190lbs and i rock armada 181 ar5s. They are perfect for me, but ive also been skiing for 14 years. I know how to throw a beefy ski around no matter what shape/height it is.
See now ive also ski on 169,174, and 186. The shorter skis are so much more manuverable, and just fast to spin. The long skis are soo stable during anything......but at the end of the day of pushing a 185+ ski around you get pretty tired if your not used to it. If you are under 140 lbs.....you just don't go over 180. Trust me.

and ar5's aren't burly by any stretch of the imagination.

yes you do, throw a moderate skier on some 190s all of a sudden see what happens. I wasn't talking about my Ar5s actually, i was talking about my 130 prophets ( which i used on cordroy last season). A moderate level skier is not going to know how to use backpressure/front pressure/ ski flex/ edgeing/ dual ski pressure. Your an NS lemming, you just do what the other RANDOM kids who have only been skiing for 2-5 years tell you.

He lies not. He used his prophets at a 300 vertical foot hill, stomping 3's that sounded like gunshots. Really, really wide skis. Pretty rediculous for carving hardpack. From what I saw, he was really having to work hard to get some edge transfer.

well before you call me an "ns lemming" maybe you should have proof read your first post so that none of this would have happened. i would have agreed with you if you swapped ar5 for prophet 130.
when you said ar5 i thought it was laughable because i am on 2001 mad trix right now and your claim of 14 years to handle a ski such as the ar5 at your size and weight is ridiculous.
