as i was running tonight to get ready for my soccer tryouts, i realized i hadn't eaten anything or drank anything today. but i ran a good 5 miles in less than 35 mintues. so a good pace. is this good for me? i would think it would be unhealthy to run with no water in me or energy in the form of food. yet in a sense could this be good for my conditioning. like i can run 5 miles easy with no energy, so i should be able to run like 10 miles easy when i'm actually rested, have fluids in me, and food in my belly.
its good that you CAN do it but its not good to do, you should always at least make sure you're hydrated, its real easy to pass out from dehydration or heat exhaustion
i'm not too worried about that. but my leg got a real bad cramp halfway through. like a sharp jab right at the top of my quad where my leg meets my torso. could that be due to dehydration?
also to the guy above...5 miles 35 minutes, thats actually a slow pace. 7 minute miles are nothing
haha it'll all be worth it when i kill it at tryouts next week. but cramp was a bad description. it was actually more of a debilitating pain at my joint that felt like a knife being slowly stabbed into my leg? and no i'm not joking. i just run it out and ice it and it goes away for a week or so
I know what your talking about. I get them too. I find that taking calcium really does help and i would seriously recomend it. I think you'll be able fo get over it in less than a week if you eat well and hydrate. Seriously man, your just hurting your self if your not.
yea dude you defintely have to stay hydrated and eat properly. I do workouts a lot because I run also (mostly shorter distance) but you really have to stay hydrated. Make sure your piss isn't highlighter yellow, like the guy above me said. Thats really really important. I like the song running on empty too, the one in forrest gump. But you should kill it in your try outs. We always had to run a 2 mile, and i barely ever broke 14 minutes cause im wayyyy more of a short distance guy than a long distance dude. Make sure you stay hydrated! Clif bars are great too if you can find them anywhere. Don't go for the protein bars either, they are basically high grade candy, not what you want
i take calcium vitamins daily (milk is gross unless its with cake) so i'm pretty sure it can't be that.
but i usually take amazing care of my body. no soda, fruits, veggies, all the good stuff. rarely drink, only smoke cigars on occasion, etc. but i realize my body is a walking time bomb. just don't know why
i have soccer conditioning now, we run a good bit. i never eat like food food before, i might have like an apple or banana cause if i ate more id throw up. i drink a good bit of water though, enough to have clear piss. we run about 20 laps 30 hills 2 complexes 5 400yd sprints suicides. damn i hate fucking conditioning, but i think i will start this year!
word i remember freshman year last year. i ate a whole shitload of quesidillas right before practice i fuckin threw up, never again lol. i love it though, our coaches are like both 25 and during the regular season we have wrestling matches and stuff. our seniors are all really good, so this year we should fucking own the playoffs. i have no clue how you can run 5 miles in 35 minutes you must be in damn good shape lol
during last fall, it was my first year of college track, and man was that hard. I constantly had to watch what i ate because I knew it would be inches from coming back up. We had to do repeat 600 meter workouts because i was training as a decathlete for a while, and i puked 3 weeks in a row on our hard workout day. That suckedddd. But, you do feel really good afterwards thats for sure. Keep on truckin.
i am going to be a senior. trust me, running becomes second nature once you get to be my age in soccer. it gets insanely easy to get in shape come your senior year. i really don't have to run at all and would be fine at tryouts with people "dying" around me. i'm just running so people will see me as captain material
deffinitly need to drink enough to make your piss clear, water will not hurt you, unless you drink too much and get cramps or water poisening, which is bad. but honestly, drink lots of water, and those cramps could be from not cooling down? i hate cooling down, but its alot better then having a cramped up leg for the next 24hrs
hmmm very intersting. i've been running everyday for the past 6 days and have yet to cool down. and i'm pretty sure i only stretched after running like 2 times. that could be a possibility
yeah even this year, it is sooo much easier. i mean i just run and whatever i dont fucking try to come in first or whatever but i keep good pace and dont get too tired. i never was much of a runner i mean, not like great. i run like a 6 something mile and im no track star. but im pretty good with the ball so that helps me in soccer, cause im kinda lazy....
yeah as long as you can run you'll be good. i'm really not built for athletics. i have super skinny chicken legs, allergies year round that force me to breathe through my mouth while running. i'm just a fuckin tank on the field even though i'm only 135 lbs
Its good news that you can do that, but you shouldn't, if you're exercising daily you should be eating upwards of 3000 calories (its impossible to keep track of your calories, but 3000 is pretty much your standard teenage amount of food)
...and I donno how much you should be drinking. enough I guess.
o yea iv been training for my school sport and i biked 20 miles in a hour all up hill! look im a claimer too. hahahah this thread is full of sports claimers.
No way in hell, thats a mile every 7 minutes which is going full speed for 35 minutes, on no food I'm calling a claim, even though I hate calling claims now-adays.
The fastest man in the world ran a mile in 4 approx. 4 minutes at full speed, I doubt a regular soccer player can run 5 miles 7 minutes a piece, especially without eating or drinking.
i'm fuckin varsity! haha but na i'm not saying its not a slow pace for me or anythinng. i'm drenched in sweat by the time i'm done. i just go along with my ipod and run.
