hey im 5'8 140lbs and theres so many choices of skis out there these days...im looking for a good pair to go into this coming season with, preferably an 06/07 pair that i can find a good deal on... im mainly park so im looking for something that will hold up in the park but also something that will float through pow on allmountain days...any suggestions on what i should get?? i was thinking last years solly foils but cant decide!
arv's are sick but im probly 80% park and live in the northeast so theres not too much powder, but i also need a ski that can handle powder on vaca in like colorado...how well do the arv's perform in the park alone?
your in the same boat im in right now. my plan is just to rent skis when i go out there. i ski like 90% i think im just gonna get trouble makers but you might like fujatives they have enough width to handle some pow but your best bet is prolly foils
Scratch BC. They are amazing. They will float the pow when you go on vacation. They are awesome in the park. Stiff for the rest of the mountain. I live in the north east too. They kill everywhere.
jo pros are sick skis but will suck in pow. and dude... if you make a thread asking for advice, listen to it. foils would be good, aswell as rossi scratch bc. both will perform excelent all-around.
if your going to have jo pros, you need to have a "quiver" or "stack" of skis. if you want to only own 1 pair of skis, get an all around ski like foils or the arv's. i would recommend the arv's but thats just cuz i have them and dont really like solly.
Don't go for the Jon Olsson Pros. Where are you based?
Unless you want a quiver (collection of skis, usually for different purposes) I wouldn't go for the JO Pros. I can safely say that they are sick in the park, but won't be any good anywhere else. As I said before, Rossi Scratch FS WRS or BC WRS will do you great. They both ski well everywhere, and, you will easily be able to find a sick deal on a pair. Line Chronics/Chronic Blends will also do good.
im really leaning towards the scratch fs wrs'...im only gonna be in real pow for about a week a year, so you think they'll hold up? i dont know if i should go with the bc's if im gonna be spending 90% of my season in east coast parks...
Then in that case, it's up to you. You say you'll only be in pow for a week a year, is this proper big mountain pow? Or the occasional snowy day? Because if it's proper big mountain powder it's probably worth getting BC's. It's 98 at the waist, which will probably make you a bit happier in the pow, if you don't mind your everyday ski being a bit wider than the norm. If you really think you have no need for the BC's, though, I'm sure the FS WRS will be happy in the pow too. Maybe not as floaty, but they hold up pretty well in the pow.
Sure. It's probably just below the max. underfoot you wanna get for EC (I'd say the absolute max. for EC would be 105), at 93. It will hold up great it the pow (should be better than FS WRS) because of the underfoot. Now, if you're skeptical about new companies, then don't go for the MR, but if you're willing to try something new, then do. It's only about $50 cheaper than the FS WRS, but if you want to go for a bigger, established maker, then Rossi is the way.
