I am finally going to learn how to edit some video and I have a few questions.
1) I want to download the program. My buddy told me to use adobe something. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good torrent?
2) How will I get video from my camera to my computer. I have a cord I think but I will have to look. And can I go to a USB port.
3)If you want to give me any tips on getting started / making sick edits feel free to let me know
I have edited a little bit but only short clips and crappy programs so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

1. PC programs - Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas.
Mac programs - Adobe Final Cut
2. You need a fire wire to upload tape, not USB.
3. All I can tell you is go on skateperception.com and read up on editing.

The first thing you are going to need bob is some sweet clips of two guys and a horse and them maybe some clips of a rail or box. And you are going to need a story line you can talk to me later about that. I have some good ideas.

just start editing on your own, learn how to use the program but do your own thing, it lets you kind of learn your own way and develop your own style of editing

more questions.
I cant figure out how to like copy and paste a clip.
Also after I run it for like 10 mins it says "premier has encountered a major error and must close" This happens when I click a command. Is this my computer or can I fix this problem?

i'm guessing its either means that your system realizes you didnt legally acquire the program, or its because your computer doesnt have the ram to run premiere.

I did legally get the software. it is just the trial version. It didm't happen again I think it happened because it was downloading software off the internet.

XP, 512 but I might upgrade to a gig, it is a dell 9100 so I would have to find compatable ram somewhere. I just put in a brand new 150gig hard drive and I have a 150 gig external. I think the processor is a 1.2 gighertz.

i would say there lies your problem, your gonna want more memory, i would say 1.5-2 gigs, i used to work on only 1gig, but i cant do anything else besides running the editing suite. and even then i have to restart every few hours. I upgraded to two and it made a world of a difference. also your computer speed is a wee bit slower then you'll probably want. i would say your gonna want 2.1 or more, just what has been functionable for me though. It always just depends on how much time you want to wait for rendering and exports. The faster and more memory your computer has, the more editing you can do, and the less staring at the render bar you'll have to worry about!

Thanks for the tips.
Do you know a good book to buy that will run me through the basics of premier because from what I have heard it has a pretty steep learning curve. Also any tips you have found would also be helpful. Thanks.

unfortunately i dont, i'm on a mac, i do a little, but very little w/ after effects. You'll find most people are using final cut. Which i love. All i learned how to do was blade, and get back to the mouse when i started. And just kind of kept going with that and learned stuff through trial. That way you get to learn the software your working with more, and create your own style and creativity!

So my processor is a 2.8 and I just bought 2 gigs of ram so I should be rocking pretty good now. Thanks for the tips everyone.
Also all my music is in I tunes format (MP4 I think) and I want to use this but premier doesn't seam to support this format. Do I have to change the format. Also what is a good converter if I do have to change the format.
Thanks.
