MIDI MPC Choices/Questions

Okay so I've been making some musaac just using ACID Pro and that means i just put all the drum hits and stuff onone by one on there. This makes it sound kinda too computereized and sometimes its hard to sound right so i want to get an MPC and record bass and shit using that. So first of all, what would be a good choice for one? I don't want anything fancy, just something i can easily play the sample and record the drums on and get sounds on the pads from the computron. i'm a cheap-o as well
Also, can u use one of these bad boys on ACID or would i have to like get fruity loops and import the chopped sample onto there then do everything. I really have no clue about how everything works, i just try figuring stuff out on my own.

are you sure you want an MPC? I highly prefer doing everything on the computer, and for something like you are talking about, use an external MIDI control surface, like this.

I use Ableton Live, a small oxygen8 controller, and a larger full size weighted key controller for MIDI stuff (I usually do "real" sound as opposed to MIDI). I think Ableton is an awesome program for what you want to do. you can be very precise about which MIDI signals go to what instrument, and really control everything, but at the same time, it's fairly easy to use, and isn't an overwhelming monstrosity like Reason.

yeah the control surface is more of what i meant. i dont really know much of the difference between that and the midi mpc. and like i just wanted something where i can just place a drum hit file i have and have it work on one of the pads. the whole deal about using bass i have no cle about. like how do u do the bass? i really dont know much about all this stuff

k so i was looking up on it and pretty much my only question now is can i use it in acid to put any drum hits or whatever i desire on it? or do i have ot ise a different program?

I was planning on buying a MPC too but it costs too high for me. I now plan to buy a MIDI keyboard controller... which costs lower than akai MPCs. There are some good deals in this Montreal storehttp://www.moogaudio.com/store/products.php?id=11, there are some good keyboards for about 400$ CAN. They can do approximatively the same job than MIDI controlling pads like the MPC but you can play your own melodies since its a keyboard. I suggest you use Reason, it can seem complicated but I know people who use it and they find it amazing to use with a MIDI keyboard. If you're into the sampled beats use Recycle too, it's grreat. I still use Acid Pro, I think it's better if you have no MIDI controller and it's a great program to make remixes.

sick, thanks. i also looked at the link freezed gave and it seems like its worth the cost. only 100 dollars

dude if you have the money do mpc... iv worked with both and i gatta say that the mpc is more open to customization which is pretty important to make your own sounds/ produce your own style. but thats just my opinion. if you are kinda low on money then go with a midi and program. like right now im using a 49key and reason. it works well enough but doesn't top mpc's
