I Know of a couple, some of them are weird and have F# and G#, how do you get those when you tune? I'm trying to tune my guitar in a Leo Kottke tunning if you've ever heard of him. He's amazing.

open E tunning is the sweetest thing ever if you have a slide. We play around with that sometimes and its fun.

ummmmm..... low to high... E (A upto) B (D upto) E (G upto) Aflat B e. I think thats how it is. If Thats confuseing, just make the strings so that when you hit them all open it sounds like a E chord, thats why its called open E tunning. To make it sound cool, you really have to get creative with the moving the chord around on the fret board. I hope it works out for you.

I made this really weird one. E was tuned to G I think and it was like.... symetrical err how ever you spell it. I've got it written down somewhere I'll post it later

DADGAD. Thats low to high. It's the tuning zeppelin uses in KAshmir, but u can do a lot of cool jazzy stuff in it w/ an eerie, melodic feel.

hmm CGCFCE is good (nick drake - pink moon, which will and a few other of his songs)
oh yeah BEBEBE is focking weird,
CGCCGC is one I just kinda made up, there are a few weird ones that I'm playing around with so they sound better.
but CGCFGE is just.. yeah it's just got this sound that you can't discribe, pretty much all of these tunings need a capo on them to soudn really good, and you should probably be playing 13 guage strings.

I don't really play acoustic guitar and I don't know much about all this shit. Like I know what tunings are of course but I don't understand what you guys mean by just tuning it to change the feel. Can you just play the same chords/improvise some chord patterns while in these crazy tunings and it still sounds good? Oh and I have an electric guitar at the moment and I like to play around and play some acoustic songs quite abit but it just doesn't have the same sound you know? Does anyone know how to set your amp or your guitar to sound like an acoustic?

there is always a chord that you can use with the tunnings, you just kinda have to figure it out. Once you find that chord its beautiful music.

yeah the whole Idea of a different tuning is to have the open strings sound like a chord themselves, and yeah you just kidna play around with the sound of it, and since the open chords sound good you might hold one note on the fretboard and strum all of the strings to alter the sound, and barring the strings is the easyest way to start using the chords because you're just moving the open chord up a note.

Broken strings suck. I hate it when that happens. Whenever mine break its when i am broke and the music store is closed so i can't get a new one for awhile.
