thanks for clearing that up..
i heard that last season but. meh, didnt care of pay attention..
even if it is tho. 177 for someone 6'?
i ride 171s and im 6'
so it shouldnt matter anyhow.
my 185 solomon guns are like the same size as 181 libertys or close to fujatives i forgot what the comparison was but yeah different ski companys measure the skis differently
my 169 1080 dorions were about 2-3 cm shorter than my 03/04 pes. k2's skis are measured form tip to tail after they are pressed so the actual tip to the actual tail. i think my 1080s were measured before they were pressed.
these threads concerning line ski sizes have popped up a few times and from what i gather is...
1. the new lines are measured like k2s, which is longer than the ski size suggests. this would make sense since k2 owns line and would also agree with what the guy just said about his fujas and blends above
2. however, the older lines are shorter than the ski length number (i can vouch for this cause i have 04/05 lines that are definately 3-4 cms shorter than the ski size).
wtf does it matter?! its like a 2 cm difference like come on man, sack up and buy them..
theres only so many sizes per pair.. so u have to jus hack one or the other.
what the hell does it matter?
super curious about this one i am.
so plz inform me.
wut r u doing with these ski's btw?
i just called line. they said that some ski industries measure their skis differently, but line's "way of measureing" is the actual ski size, whatever that means. he said that in the past k2 skis have been compared with salomon and the 185 saloman ski would be the same size as a 181 k2 ski. and to *thebusiness* im going to be skiing like 80% park and 20% all mountain. i think that the dude above is right tho, since k2 bought line everything has been the same lengeth measuring method for the 05-06 and 06-07 line and k2 products. if someone could actually still measure their 06-07 chronics for me that would be great. oh and onterio, to prove that some ski brands measure differently, whip out your 04-05 public enemys, and measure them first by putting a ruler ontop of the ski, and bending the ruler where the tip comes down, all the way to the back. it comes out to be whatever size you have(i think you have a 169?) then, just put the ruler on the ground of where your tip begins, not actually on the ski, but like on the ground next to it where the tip starts, and measure to the tail, and it comes out to be a 171. from what i have read, some industires measure before they press the ski(make the tips and tails) and some measure aterwards. its all how you look at it tho.
alright so i measured most of my skis, triple checked the lengths, made sure the tape followed the curve of the skis and kept it as accurate as possible. i measured the top sheet when it was possible, the base, and i got the exact height of each ski when flat up against the wall (so the amount of tip and tail would affect the length)
04-05 172 head mad trix
top sheet measured :171
base measured:172
against the wall: 170
06-07 178 line invader
top sheet measured: 178
base measured: slightly over 179
against the wall: 178
04-05 179 fujative
topsheet measured: bindings on ski, so its safe to say around 1cm less than the base.
base measured: 180
against the wall: 178
169 Public Enemy
top sheet measured: bindings on ski, so its safe to say around 1cm less than the base.
base measured: 172
against the wall: 169
06-07 179 Chronic blends
topsheet measured: bindings on ski, so its safe to say around 1cm less than the base.
base measured: slightly over 180
against the wall: 179
06-07 189 Made'n AK
topsheet measured: 191 (i shit you not)
base measured: 194
against the wall: 191
i realized what makes the biggest difference is the size, and amount of curve of the tips, so while public enemies only measure 169 in actual length, the ski itself if it were flattened out would be 172cms.
YEAH BABY, now im good. i was just worried about getting the 177s and like they would be actually 173 or something, but turns out its probably gunna be like 178 or 179. thanks for taking the time to measure them man, i apreciate it
the biggest the chronics come is 177. the way that i think of it is basically 177 is the biggeest size in which a pro used the chronic. so it has to be legit.
