Park City or Squaw Valley???

So the saga continues. I may have two job offers for this season, but being from the the U.K I know as much about these resorts as you lot know about beer. So once again Im throwing myself opon your mercy. So mighty NS'ers please enlighten me.

Im gonna be working kiddies ski school so any time I have spare I would like to be smashing all that powder Im hoping is going to be about.
Im much more in to big mountain and cliffs than park although I do love throwing myself off of some kickers.
Im English so I WILL NEED BEER, so a few pubs is needed.
And my girlfriend is gonna be with me so she will need some shops and hair places, stuff that girls like...pink things and kittens.

Thats about it, any help would be gatefully recieved. Cheers all hope to see some of you soon.

i dunno.. Squaw is a much sicker resort in the means of big mountain and cliffs and whatnot BUT if you do enjoy to rip the park every once in a while from what i have heard their park crew basically didnt do almost anything these last couple years.. but that is just what i have heard so i might be wrong. The pow overe there can be kinda heavy but it is still suuuuuper fun. PC has a real nice park but for big mountain stuff it isnt that great but you will have Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude less than an hour away if you are in PC

alright, here's the deal... I've grown up skiing in squaw and I've done more than enough skiing in park city. with this review I am going to try and hold back my personal biases. Anyways, squaw: I have allways loved squaw becuase of how incredible to the overall skiing is. Amazing lines, big cliffs= endless fun. With this however, you kind of need to know where to go but if you end up working with a lot of squaw locals that won't be difficult. the squaw park has allways been ok. it goes through fazes where it is much better. this year it sucked but I hear there digging in the jumps and maybe the pipe. well anyways, there is no doubt that the park at squaw is lacking when you compare it to the mountain as a whole.
park city: I think the town and mountain is full of complete dueche bags. the park is fun but the mountain as a whole just really isn't that great. nevertheless, I can't say its a bad move to work their for a winter becuase the park is fun. I hope this helps,

It isn't called sierra cement for nothing.

I would have to side with Squaw a little more. One, because its in cali, and then the big mountain is way sicker. You also have N* pretty close if you feel like shredding parkage. Park City has a nice park, but I have never been there with any real snow, so I don't know anything more.

PLease for the love of god choose squaw over pc. if you go to pc, at least buy a pass up one of thee canyons. you can also go to squaw and buy a pass to alpine or boreal

Thanks peeps, Im starting to side with Squaw I think. The work in PC does look a bit better though. Its a tuff choice. What a quality life you lead when your biggest and hardest choices are wether to go to one resort or another!!

squaw has lots of cliffs and pow, and a nice little village night scene.. plus its at lake tahoe and not far from san francisco. but.. i can pretty much gaurantee you that any american you meet is going to drink a miller high life, and then you may have to throw up.. but its irrelevant where you go on the beer thing. CA has some good home grown pale ales and ambers and shit, even some hefeweizen.. but ya.. american beer is just not that cool.. everywhere has like budweiser and pabst on tap.. eww.

SNowbird, Alta and brighton all are good resorts. Brighton has endless cliffs and mini golf lines, and if you know where to go the powder lasts days after a storm. Alta is obvioulsy sick, and snowbird has a similar scene to squaw. If you go to PC, you have to get a canyons pass... it's not reasonable to only get a PC pass if you live in Utah

Thats the real issue, ha ha ha, Coors light anyone.... fuck off!!! ha ha ha. Im gonna be hunting hard for some propper beer and Im gonna be getting all the locals pissed (drunk) all the time.

squaw is way better than park city for big mtn, but the mtns near park city are better than squaw because the snow is way better. mtns like snowbird alta, canyons, solitude, brighton, powder mtn, et al will def challenge you're big mtn ablities.

keep in mind the desert is dirty and utah beer is basically water.  Get used to liquour, a pass to Alta and you should be set.

Thats true. Squaw are a little slack trying to get things sorted whilst PC is on the case, Ive had daily mails from them telling me to get a move as the cut off date is coming up.

Man I cant wait to get over there.

Its looking like Utah. I will definatly get a pass for other resorts if possible. Arent all the Vail resorts at Salt Lake? I should have a car so Im hoping that I will be able to get to other resorts.

Will my instructor pass get me any other resorts other than PC?

you get the triple play, which is one ticket to the canyons and one to deer valley per week (or just one resort per week...  i'll have to look into it, i can't remember).  There are other deals you can get through the resort and orginazations, none of which I remember after reading it at the beginning of the season.    i'll get back to ya.

kutchie basically said it all, except for the fact that squaw's park crew has kinda stepped it up (this doesn't mean that its anywhere near as good as pc's), so if you wanna drop cliffs and rip a decent park then go to squaw. if you want one of the best parks in the country go to pc.

Squaw valley without a dought. if your looking for solid backcountry ,big mountain ,cliffs, and so on it is the place. i does not have the greatest park. but it is a fun park and you cannot beat the weather there. sunny every day and if its not sunny its dumping. super fun village.

My friends and I used to rent a place out a Squaw for the winter. Its got the best mountain terrain in Tahoe but the park is almost always lacking. Just get a pass to Northstar or Boreal for park.

from my short experience there (just a week vacation) i realized that it snows alot, gets sunny, and the snow melts. which makes it shitty conditions. after the pow you get heavy, sun baked snow which is basically like skiing through wet concrete and difficult to keep up your speed sometimes


but overall, anything beats the east

well if you want more skiing year round, go to tahoe and if you want it all during the winter go to park city, either way ur gonna have a hella good time

Its the end of this thread. I got a job teaching kids at PC! Its a pretty good gig I think. Im looking forward to getting there.

i take the jab about beer personally. that's on par with me saying that because you're from the UK, you obviously know nothing about dental care. just because i like to get trashed and shitty beer is more affordable than good beer doesn't mean that i don't know anything about beer. much like how just because most people from the UK look as though they've just eaten a mouthful of dirt and stained their teeth with wood resin doesn't mean they have a bunch of cavities.

1, If you get "trashed" on shitty beer in the US it means your drinking low alcohol beer which doesnt count. So dont do it.

2, The state of the dental industry in the UK is good, this is because a lot f it is NHS which means that it is affordably for everybody. Unlike your health industry which you have to pay for.

3, You maybe thinking that Brits eat mud because your mixed up between Scotish, Welsh and Northern Irish who do infact all eat mud and other things like bark and moss. English people only eat scones and drink tea out of china cups when the queen come around.

You dont have to take things personaly unless they are rude and aimed at you, which saying that on the whole Americans dont know about beer is a fact and is not ment to be rude. Its fact. The same as we dont know about fast food and bourbon.

And you know what, I cant wait to hunt out a beer, and eat some fast food.
