Need Help Buying A Video Camera

Alright, to start this off I've already used the searchbar and looked at the hundreds of threads regarding this and I got what I could from that.
Pricerange: $400-$700 ($700 is pretty high though for what I'm looking for)
Basically what I'm looking for is a camera that will be used to for skiing and other stuff in which I can make decent edits with and the quality won't be a peice of shit. I'm not looking for the same quality as the GL2 ahviously but I want the viewers to be able to tell whats going on in my edit without having to squint and shit. This would be my first camera as well because I just want something to start out with and see if I like this enough as a hobby to pour some more money into it.

yeah now i'm thinking about the PV-GS320. Does anyone have it and if so what quality of a camera is it? Any video footage that someone shot with it would be helpful in making my decision.
