Are you over 6 feet tall in PA/NY? What the heck do you ski on...

So pretty much every ski I've been recommended maxes out at 181, yet almost everyone - unless they are trying to sell a 181 ski - is saying to go no lower than a 185cm ski to match my height/weight (6' 1", 185lbs)
So if you're over 6 feet tall, average weight, ski only PA/NY on groomers/park (no powder), tell me what they heck you're skiing on. I'm only seeing BC skis in the 185 range, but I don't want/need to go larger than a 85mm waist.
As of right now, I guess my front runner is a 181 Scratch FS WRS or maybe one of the 181's that are being sold on the forums, though most are older/smaller waists.

to tell you the truth 5 centimeters isnt gunna make much of a difference but you dont need 185's 181's and in that general area would suffice

dude honestly..i ride a pair of pocket rocket 185's for pa/ny...haha jk but i seriously do have a pair for fun cruisers..but for park..i ride a pair of 178's and 176's..ive ridden 181's and could not tell a difference..its all preferance...and im 6'1..so anywhere from 176-181 should be plenty fine

Well, like I've posted before, I have 174 PE's that I'd love to move from +4 to +7, but maybe the best thing is to just leave them at +4 and ride this season as they are.
I picked up a season pass this year, which will increase my park riding from 40% to about 85% which is why I wanted a center mounted, longer ski.

thats just silly man. You can definitely just ski like a 175-185 and be fine.
I am 6'3 190. This last year I skied 178 invaders, 178 anthems, 179 Chronic Blends, and 182 Bacons. I've skied longer skis like 185 ARVs, 186 Prophet 100's/130's.. and really its not that big of difference.
If you're looking for a great park ski, go with a 181 chronic from this next year. Or you could even go with a 186 chronic blend if you want something longer. Its all preference.

I'm 6'3, 180 and I skied 177 chronics last couple seasons and honestly I felt that they were too short. I'm getting the new 181 chronics. Remember the longer you go the more swing weight you are going to have. I think that for us big guys anything between 180-185 would be ideal for park.

Would you recommend the troublemakers over the scratches?
Ideally I'd like to be able to bring the ski out of the park for all mountain riding 20% of the time...if that means anything between these two. Like I said 99% EC ice/groomers

I'm 6'4 and 185lbs so pretty similar. Best skis I've ever owned were Elan M02s in 185. I'm on 179 Silencers just now as my jib ski - I've skied a few groomers with them and they were alright.
Your main options:
181 Scratch FS
179 Silencer/PE/Fujative
183 STL
181 AR6/T-Hall
182 Troublemaker/etc
181 Mojo 80
184 P3
185 Karma
185 MO2

i ski 181s and if i could go longer with the same waist i would but that is simply because i ski all park thus am center mounted and that makes the ski feel a little shorter on you. regardless of where you mount get something around the 180-182 range or whatever the ski you want comes in and base it more on flex and waist width

my friend is 6'5 and ride 179 PE's, Im 5'10, and i ride 176 T-halls, its all preference, u wont really feel much of a difference with a few Centimeters

so if you were 6'1" 185 lbs and had to ski on 174 PEs, would you keep them at +4 to have some ski up front, or move them to +7.5
Ultimately, I'm probably going to convince myself that skiing my first season with a season pass, wanting to spend 85% of my time in the park is going to require having a longer, center mounted ski...

Don't go any further back than +7.5. True centre is +12.5 so that would still be 5cm back of centre. If I were you I would go 2cm back of centre.

i ride scratch bcs in the pa/ny area most of the time in a 185, im 6'5 200. i did just get a pair of 185 volkl walls (that just came in today!!!!) and a pair of 178 line anthems. its all what you feel like skiing and what ur comfortable on.
go demo some stuff if you can, get a feel for it. i find it easier to ski a shorter stiff ski than a shorter soft ski, a soft ski feels out of control if its too short.

I think the top three list is now:
Line Chronics (maybe Blends)
Scratch FS WRS
Head Mojo 80's or 90's
The reason I'd do the wider skis - even though I'm all East Coast - is to get the extra length and keep it above the 85mm waist of the PE which I loved for landings...trying to get a 186+
Troublemakers seem to be getting good reviews for the 1st year and then a lot of people complain about the durability going fast.

181 Pipe Cleaners. Slay the park. Great all mountain. Stiff enough to not wash out on bigger landings on the hard pack and as well for all mountain.
All times are Eastern (-5)
