Need help from fellow NS'ers

hey guys,

i just dl'd a set of television shows, and my WMV player will not play them. it says i do not have the correct codec for the files. i have tried to dl some things to remedy this, but to no avail.

so i figured i would come to NS and get some help from some people that know what is going on.

the files are .avi files, but for some reason will not run.

any help would be appreciated

there are two ways to do this.

1. Download a codec identifier (such as GSpot at http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/index.htm). Then use it to find out what codec you need, then download and install that codec.

2. Download VLC media player at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. Install it, and open your avi file with it. VLC plays everything. I'd recommend going with this option.
