Replying to Saas Fee in October

Yes I searched this but it was back in 2004.  So is Sass Fee sick in October locals?  I heard that it is very icy and not worth the trip.  it's this or a more expensive trip to new zealand which I hear is lacking in snow this year.  We're mainly going for first most a pipe, and jumps are a second priority, rails are the least of our concern, and some pow would be sick, but being that it is october I'm not expecting much of that.  anyhting else I should know about Sass Fee, like what to do after skiing, any cool sights to see while in that area and Switzerland?
