Ive been reading up and i guess that marijuana significantly increases your chances of getting schizophrenia especially if mental illness is prevelent in the family. does this concern any users?

Does that have anything to do with seeing things in day to day life, like missreading signs that say no entry as dog shit?
I've been seeing things wrong for the past week and its kinda weird....

you need to keep reading my friend.
It only increases your chances if your family has the scizo gene.
It happened to my neighbor in my old town. It cannot CAUSE it, but it can trigger it if your genetically prone to it.
My advice, before taking your first toke, find out if your fam has a history of the illness.
If it does, then you have a high % chance of it triggering anyway at some point in your life. The nice thing is there are new drugs out today with amazing success at suppressing the ailment.
Hope that helps some.

yeh minor stress can trigger it.
Also it's important to remember that everyone reacts differently. There are very few cases of reefer triggering it.
On top of that our brain has natural THC receptors in it, that is one of the main reasons humans react with such a slew of positive effects.
Basically at some point in our evolution our brains produced something that was essentially THC to deal with stress, or pain, or what have you.
There is some research being done to figure out just what it was that our brains used it for, and when in our evolution it developed.
I wouldn't base your choice to smoke on this, but then again I am just some 23 year old and I do not have a PHD. I am a game designer lol.
I'd say toke up, but I don't wanna lead you down the wrong path. Make the choice for yourself and def research it as much as you can.

We were actually given a story in assembly at school last year by our principal, about one of his family friends who was a really good and promising skier (racer i think) who developped schizophrenia after a lot of cannabis (real regular usage). Apparently his parents still try and take him skiing, hoping it'll help him and stuff, but he hates to leave the house cos he can't cope and his pants fall down and other embarrassing stuff. I think he has other problems due to the weed too, not just schizophrenia.
I wasn't paying much attention, we were laughing at the fact that our principal is bald, gay (honestly, out the closet gay) and wears glasses.

it seems to me like all the early effects of schizophrenia are the same symptoms of being a pot head so how the hell is anyone to know if they have schizophrenia if they are regular users. i guess one must just wait untill the visuals start happening but what if the bud is just really intense, it is a slight hallucingenic.

Well since I've started smoking I've come to realize the world is fucked, you can get good grades without much effort at all and life is much more enjoyable. I'm going to die young anyway so smoking a little ganj really isn't going to change much.

If what I read is correct, it can cause symptoms of schizophrenia...
For example
If one symptom of colan cancer is diarrhea and one symptom of mexican food is diarrhea, than in a sense symptoms of colan cancer can be caused by mexican food.
AKA, its not definitive in any way.

yea, smoking out of tin cans and smoking hookahs(tinfoil over bowl) increases Alzheimers. i also heard if you do shrooms a couple times a month then you start to see yellow line on things that are white, like walls and shit.

This actually happened to a good friend of mine. He had a delayed onset of Schizophrenia, heriditary, and he was a frequent toker, and he actually is in and out of an asylum currently. It's a really sad story, and I don't really feel like getting in depth cause I get emotional about it, but if your prone to these kinds of things, it can and will happen, so PLEASE think before you toke.

but i wonder, since schiz is all in the mind, and if you know your getting it can you try to think normal thoughts and stop the disease before it gets bad?

I know a few people who became depressed and blamed it from smoking to much. like multiple times a day and quit for a while for that reason.
Personally, i blaze about atleast once a day during the week and multiple times during weekend days and haven't really ever felt much depression that was caused by the weed.

smoking too regularly can cause schizoid personality disorder, which is basically a detachment from social relationships and a restricted range of emotional expression
may not be wat you guys refer to as skitzo being the split personality condition which isnt usually connected wid smoking
