The constitution is not an infallible document. It is a work in progress and has been since day one. Would you take medical advice from a doctor in 1776? It was a much different time. It is the same way that people try to treat the bible like an exact interpretation of how to live. If anything is a framework to be built upon. The constitution was written by racist rich white male owners. Language was taken out of the constitution making it acceptable to own slaves and control the poor. Basically it can and has been changed and will continue to change as times progress. That is why it works not because people haven’t challenged it.
Ron Paul is the best of the republican candidates but he is not my candidate. Here are some of the reasons why.
[if !supportLists]1) [endif]He has no chance, which is a shame, because he has alienated his own party.
[if !supportLists]2) [endif]He is a conservative and favors taking rights away from people in the name of small government. He supports letting small independent school districts be allowed to teach whatever they want with no national standard. He is against abortion.
[if !supportLists]3) [endif]He is running on a republican ticket as a man who will create a smaller government, and lower national debt. No republican in this century has ever made an effort to create smaller government. Bush ran on an isolationist conservative ticket and look what we have now. Clinton organized a budget and spending plan that created a gigantic surplus and would have had the national debt paid off this year. We are now trillions of dollars in the red. Government programs are important and need to be maintained and watched over. We can look at Europe for this where the quality of life is much higher due to government programs.
[if !supportLists]4) [endif]He is a stringent capitalist and is against many socialized programs that work well in Europe among other places such as health care.
[if !supportLists]5) [endif]He is from texas*
[if !supportLists]6) [endif]His solution for securing the boarders is to build a giant fence and patrol it with thousands of guards, small government? The only thing we need to do to secure the boarders in enforce the law. A 10,000 dollar fine for every illegal immigrant found working for your company, ID checks to purchase property or rent property.
[if !supportLists]7) [endif]He is anti stem cell research.
[if !supportLists]8) [endif]His campaign funding is largely supported by lobbyist groups. (This is a general political statement.)
I do agree with him on 90 percent of his issues but its hard not to. Lower taxes! No more war! No Mexicans! Its what everyone wants to hear. It’s the candidates that are realistic and concise and say what is right not what the people want to hear. That is the candidate that I will vote for. If you read Obama’s book Audacity of Hope you can see how he feels about the issues.
* Not necessarily a valid point.
