when i download a cd by torrent i need a program to convert... i tried rar but i couldn't get it to work, any ideas?

Weird, usually when I download a CD by torrent it is all in mp3 or mp4 files, ready to import into itunes. Occasionally there is some album art or a read me file, what type of file is it that you are trying to convert?
