im going on a NOLS trip and was thinking of getting a camera to bring with me, part of the trip will be on the water, any suggestions? im thinking digital but do u think just a couple one time use cameras would be smarter in case of water damage and stuff

A little water won't hurt a camera.If it's a lot or water then it will hurt it.

If you will be on a boat when you mean on water then you will be fine with buying a camera.If you will be in the water with a camera,then just buy a waterproof disposable camera for that.
