Replying to What's the deal with "For Thread" pictures?

It seems the number of pictures with the title "for thread" and the like are multiplying daily. So, if it's for a thread and you don't intend people to look at it/criticise it, then why don't you put it in your private gallery?

Is it just a sneaky way to post a pic you really do want people to look at whislt maintaining a security blanket in case it's dubbed a 'myspace pic', or 'lame' or 'waste of my time'?

Just an observation and just wondering.
