Pickling hot peppers

anybody know how long you should leave hot peppers in the pickling jars before you can open the jar? I'm talking in terms of months or weeks after you put them in the vinegar/pickling mix.

A couple of weeks. The idea behind pickling something is that it should last forever so you can eat it whenever you want. Obviously the longer you keep it in there the stronger the taste will be.

k cool. I just didn't want to open them after 6 weeks if it is necessary to leave them closed for a few months or something.
