Looking for a east coast pow day ski

as the title says i'm looking for a fattie for when the east coast gets their 2 foot dumps. Last year there was 6 of them that i wasn't feeling to comfertible with my park skis. So what do you suggest. I'm 6'2" 180 pounds and a pretty good skier but have absolutly no pow skills. So how fat should i go. I met a guy at sugarloaf who was probably 220 pounds and riding seths with a 90 something waist. He said that he had to get going fast to float but otherwise he loved his skis. This guy was legit. Also becasue i'm on the east coast i would the ski to be able to be an all mountain ski. So if you guys could suggest a ski that would be great or at least throw out the width i should be looking for.

ok, so i dont really know much about pow skis considering I live in on the EC too, but from what ive read and seen, ARV's seem like a pretty decent EC allmountain/pow ski

from what i've heard the volkl bridge kills it for this type of skiing. if not that you can't go wrong with: seths (189), scratch bc/brigade (185), Guns (188) Big trouble (186). These are all pretty user friendly- pretty much in that order.
Arvs are too sorft for my tastes but if u say your not great at skiing pow, u might like em. People rave about bacons, but again, super soft. They are maybe too wide for ec pow, but that said they are designed to be skied differently. Bacons would be the adventurous choice, Arvs the "timid entry level" choice, but if it were me i'd go for one from my first list, probably seths or scratch bcs. They are such great skis and you don't have to be particularly good to get on with them. And at 6'2" you shouldn't even think about anything shorter than 185, except if you go with bacons of course.

Oh and like I said, bridges are meant to be killer sticks but I haven't skied them so I can't recommend them personally.

dude i ride the ec too...you really dont need a powder ski considering we dont get many powder days and powder is hard to come by a while after storms...my sugestion is u get a ski such as the foils or ar6's or some all around skiw ith a 85-90 waist that can work for all over the mtn park groomers pow.

4frnt msp in a 187.  i'll talk up msps all day.  my fav. all time ski. wide enough to float where ever you want it to, stiff enough to break trough chop, fun as hell in the park.  if i could only have one ski for everything, that would be it.

The prophet100 in 186cm is such a sick ski, its super stable and the ski handles really good allover the mtn, from deep pow to groomers.
I think its still pretty agile for a bigger ski, which is important when skiing ec trees. Even on groomers they are super fun and carvy.
I think the prophet is a great ski for someone looking to really rip around the east coast mtns. Pretty much I got the ski looking for a pow ski and ended up skiing it a lot more then I planned… even take it in the park when the snow gets sloppy and it dominates

I agree with this guy ^. I know the Bacons are huge, but no joke, they are ridiculously sick and fun, even for EC (trust me, I skied them in Virginia!).

straight up pow/all mountain. no rails at all.

to another response up top. I guess this guy missed 4/18 at sugarloaf, presidents day at the river, and a few others.

From what you said I would agree with Fetus and Triple. I can ride my prophets 80s everyday on the fake stuff and plan on movin up to the 90s this season for those few times a year we actually get some good snow on the ec. Also its something I can still take out west and move good. And I'm 5'11 180 and I really like ridding these skis.

But it depends if you like a really stiff ski or not. A bit more info on the types of skis you like to ride would help us in narrowing down your choices.

get the 189 seths, and mount them 2cm back from true center.

i wouldnt get anything over 100 if i lived on the east, simply because i love the feeling of sinking on each turn in pow. wheres the fun if your skiing the top 6 inches when theres feet of fluff under you?

why would you waste the money for east coast pow? you know that april storm will never happen again

but anyway id say stick with something with a waist under 100mm, maybe scratch bc's or Seths, or some chronic wides or something along those lines
