Replying to Ebay Problem
I was thinking about putting this in the Equipment forum, but since it isn't directly gear related i figured here would be better to get a good response.
But here's my problem. A few weeks ago I bid on a pair of Liberty Larose Pros. And in the shipping portion of the auction description, I entered my zip code and everything. And the shipping came out to be $11.56. I mean hey this seemed to be pretty cheap to ship a pair of skis. But hell, I thought that maybe he's a big shop that can do a lot of shipping deals. And reduce costs to help sell things.
Well anyways. I won the auction for $211. So the total cost would come out to $222.56. Well then I go to check my paypal invoice. And the shipping is listed there as $35. I was like wtf. There has to be some mistake. So I went back to the auction page and double checked, and everywhere on the page it said SHIPPING: $11.56. Nothing about other costs or $35. So I message him, asking him to correct it. And I get a bullshit response back. That is something to the extent of "I'm sorry ebay doesn't allow me to list shipping for oversized objects. Shipping is $35."
So I've been messaging him back and forth. Explaining to him, that people sell skis and other oversized shit on ebay all the time. In the shipping portion you specify that it is a fixed rate. You don't list so crazy calulator and then after the auction is over charge someone something completely different.
Well he's just been playing dumb. Sending me responses back like "Shipping is $35." Is there anything I can do? Ebay is a contract right? Technically he has to sell me the skis for that price correct? If the buyer breaks the contract, then theres hell to pay. What about the seller. I really want these skis. But I'm not paying almost $250 for them.
