i think i have figured out donnie darko!

wow dude that movie is sooo good. definitly my favorite. i had a rough idea about the ending, but thanks for clarifying. also, are you sure frank 'saves' donnie? i mean i thought donnie just figures it all out by himself, and goes back to his house to die. what makes you think that frank is related to that?

that's the great thing about this movie. there are so many different ways of looking at it, none of which are completely wrong (well you know what I mean)

here's the 'philosophy of time travel' book by Sparrow.

in it you'll see that donnie who was the living reciever (and whos duty it was to set the world straight) had super powers, only by bringing the plane engine (artifact) into the same place as it first jumped back in time, Every event is of signifigance to him bringing the engine back to that place. if one of them didn't happen then donnie wouldn't be in the same position as he was in the end of the movie, the engine wouldn't have crashed through his roof the second time and the tangent timeline that he lived in for 28 days would have been destroyed.

'If a person dies within the Tangent Dimension, they are able to contact the Living Receiver through the Fourth Dimensional Construct.

The Fourth Dimensional Construct is made of Water.

The Manipulated Dead will often set an Ensurance Trap for the Living Receiver to ensure that the Artifact is returned safely to the Primary Universe.

If the Ensurance Trap is succesful, the Living Receiver is left with no choice but to use his Fourth Dimensional Power to send the Artifact back in time into the Primary Universe before the Black Hole collapses upon itself.'

The part that's really open to interpretation is the end, right before donnie dies. Had he already brought back the engine and was he back in his bed from the beginning of the movie? or was he sitting there in the tangent world knowing he was about to save the world from distruction?

After you read the 'book' it explains most of it. but you have to see it again after it's completely explained, you'll notice things if you remember that donnie has the power to control water and etc.

i sort of have no idea what your talking aboutm but i sort of do. i thought the movie was really good though.

it's based on the fact that destruction implies creation. If Donny had not broken that pipe, hewouldn't have met that girl. and so on and so forth. I do believe frank found out the portal though, and tried to save himself, but couldn't change destiny
