I need them

I have 05/06 scratch FS's

and i'm likely to make quite a bit of money over the summer

I want nice bindings that'll last a long time

price = not really an issue

4FRNT DEADBOLT 412,614 OR 816









if not then for durability id say salomon s916
i'd say pivot/fks but i personally didnt find them to last too long

a lot of ppl r prob gonna say "P18's or any of the fks series, super gnarly, indestructible" balh lah blah. its kinda true, but i would say go with px series or axial 2's. those in my opinoin are really solid,a good price all shops sell/ mount them, its easy to get brakes for them. so, thats my thought

price is a factor, but not one that would make me buy a crappier binding

I want ones that will last a long time, and perform

I may be instructing this winter, other than that, probably like 75% park 25% all mountain and xxxtremeness

well if you want the best bindings, you could get like p18's or s916/STH16, but that would be overkill for mostly park, and I don't know how big you are.

I'd recommend some FKS 155/185. Good all around binding, sick for park, solid as fuck, and great reputation - for a reason

the new sth's from salomon are supposed to be great, may be worth waiting til fall for

look p12 jibs are a great park binding, although you won't be able to find them new

4frnt deadbolts are good too

lots of choices out there

other than park, i do glades, steeps, and i'm gonna hike tuckermans this season

so they have to perform on the whole mountain

i'm obsessed with salomon bindings.  get 916's if you're big enough, otherwise the new steel version of the z12 or those new sth16's.

may want to look into the marker jester too, basically a non-AT version of the duke

plus its set to be the first marker binding that doesn't blow

Original pivot series bindings, like the p14, axial140, or Scratch 140. I have some scratch 140s I'm selling with my ANTs but I don't think I want to sell separately.

Why would you say that the P18 is over kill for park, but then advise him to get the FKS 185/155? They are the exact same clamp as the P18, except that the 155 had a 15 DIN instead of 18. Nice intelligent posts here.

What do you normally ride at?
That'll give an idea of what range of bindings you should be in...race stock, high-end consumer, and so on.

hahahahahaha, you do know p18s and FKS 185s are the exact same binding right? and 155s and p15s(hard to find, but they're out there) are the same but with a lower tension spring.

how are the new solly's?
i know the old ones broke a lot

i know look and rossi will last a while, i was thinking about some new rossis or some pivots if anyone has any, i've seen them for sale a lot

depending on what you what you run your din at, which i would imagine would be about 9, the 816 would be fine. you could also get the 614 since those would also be withinin your din.

as for the new salomon sth series, the sth 12 is a z12 with a reinforced housing and a stronger metal track. the sth 16 is a 914 with a metal toe pivot mechanism and a super strong track. the sth16 seems thike a very good choise for you if your din is within 9 and 16, if it is not, i's say fks 120 or deadbolt 614/816. the fks 120 is about .4 lbs lighter than the deadbolt and is super strong and safe. the reason i would reccommend the 120 instead of the 155/185 is because the 155/185 lack a vertical releasing toe, which may be nice in the park, although the din on the 120 may be a bit low.

The STH 12 is acually a lightened 916 heel (wormspring adjustment) with a beefed up Z12 toe. A few weights:

S914: 4.7 lbs
STH16: 5.1 lbs
S916: 6.4 lbs

i believe you about the sth12 heel but i think those weights are way off. haha. i think the 916 is like 3.2 lbs. so my guess is the sth16 will weigh about the same as like a px12 jib. as for the 914, i think its onlt like 2.5-2.7 lbs

These were taken from Marsh on TGR, and he knows his shit...and bear in mind those weights I just posted are for both sets of bindings (2 toe pieces and 2 heel pieces).

i was thinkning about getting the deadbolt 614's, they seem more in my din range, and t6hey're graphite colored

if your din for racing is at 6.5, theres no fucking way you can ride on 816s. it starts at 8.... 614s is probably also too high. i'd go with the 412's. i know my shop told me they wouldn't be allowed by law to mount 614s for me, as my din is 6 and even though it is in range, they weren't allowed to do it.

get some p12s or p14s those are the next best thing, in my opinion, too fks bindings, but you dont seem like you need race stocks maybe fks 120s though

uhhhh my din is 6 and i have 614s...my shop didnt have a problem with it

but if your din is 6 then id get 614s unless you think you need a higher din

It's a generally accepted rule that keeping a spring in the middle section of it's tension range is best to keep it from wearing out pre-maturely.

You weigh 185 but you have your RACE binding set at 6.5?
What the hell?
First of all race bindings are definatly supposed to be higher than freeride bindings.
For reference my freeride din is at 8 and im 155. My race din would probably be 11. So I'm confused as to whats going on here.

at 180 pounds, 6.5 din for RACING. fuck yes, thats terrible. as the other guy said, hes 155 at 8. for racing it'd be more, aroudn 11. you should be way more than 6.5... thats just retarded.

it depends, im the same size as you, maybe an inch or two taller and im at 11-12, but im not saying you should be there, if 6.5 is holding you in thats fine, if you feel its pre-releasing, crank them up .5 until they stop

i honestly love my Look P12 Jibs...they are a few years old but i put a beating on these things all year which for me is 90+ days a season and i have never had any problems...i plan on putting them on my skis again for their third season.
