Yeah and he's also the one who said that the students at Virgina Tech were the worst people of the week because they "allowed" the massacre to take place. That they should have taken down the gunman while he was reloading. I don't have any respect for that guy.

I'm sorry but I've unarmed several angry people with guns who would have loved nothing more than to put holes in my body, and it really isn't a lot to ask. And these were kalashnikovs... The kid had 2 handguns. The fact that 30 college age kids were killed before the guy offed HIMSELF is insane.
I am not an advocate of violence but point a gun at my friends and it's all on.

1) Fire extinguisher
2) Spray eyes
3) Pocket knife/Pipe/chairleg/box cutter/hand/foot/teeth/shoe/anything ffs
4) ????
5) PROFIT

Olberman is a cynic, and a ballsy one, I believe he said what other people were just too reserved to say because they would be labeled as 'monsters' for suggesting that some 200 people should have put up some semblance of a fight. I'm sure I'll get flamed all to hell for agreeing.
That's the beauty of it, he doesn't care what you think, he just tells it like it is. And I couldn't agree more with him today, except that he should've been IMPEACHED without chance to resign. Resigning allows one to maintain some dignity, Bush/Cheyney are beyond that. They need some straight up seppuku to be absolved of their sins.

His only issue is, he uses big words. The south/right dismisses him as a pompus windbag because he uses the word 'indeed' and so forth. Hes speaking to the 50% who already agree with him. What he needs to do is work on convincing the other half.

You have 2 choices.
1) Get shot
2) Resist, possibly delay him killing you, possibly gain control of the situation, and possibly have a few more people jump in and follow your lead. You might get shot, but you and 30 of your friends have a pretty damn good chance against ONE FREAKING HANDGUN. One or two of you might go down but hell it beats 30.

uhhh... I think you've got him confused with someone else, like, pretty damn sure.  In fact, google returns numberous results about him blaming bush/ republicans (I don't agree with that), but none for him blaming VA tech itself, so ya... I think you're wrong.

And while I don't think Olbermann is the best person in the world, or anything more then a left wing pundit (which he is), what he says here is so true and it's refreshing to hear someone say it.

You have to remember that he killed two students in a dorm about three hours before the massacre took place. I think its sick that he wasn't stopped by police or campus athorities and that the school wasnt in lock down.

i gotta say...i dont understand why people view Keith Olbermann as this enlightened news anchor and then view Bill O'Reilly as this monster who eats babies.

I dislike both of them, but Keith is pretty much the exact same person as Bill. Both belive strongly in their opinions, both are douchebags, and both refuse to listen to anyone else's opinion. how are they any different from each other.

they are the same person on opposite sides of the political spectrum.

While they are both extreme left/right pundits, olberman isn't NEARLY the douche that bill o is.  I, as a left leaning person, tend to agree with olbermann FAR more then O'Reilly.  Olbermann here, as I said before, is dead on the money in my view, and from what i can tell, a large amount of others agree.  He is very good with his words and he puts together a lot of pieces of the puzzle into a single segment and does a damn good job of it.  Weather you like him or not, do you disagree with what he's saying here?  because I don't, I think he's right on the money.

im not saying i agree or disagree....what im saying is that they are both assholes, but Olbermann gets a free pass by the public(because of his liberal views) and O' Reilly is made to look like he eats babies.

my point is that they are the same person with different views and people should be able to see through that. but apparently they dont.

Actually it's because he can write decent social commentary. Whether you AGREE with it or not depends on your according with his liberal views. But you can't say it isn't well-put if you have half a brain in your head. O'reilly, meanwhile, is both an idiot and a liar and has never said a single worthwhile thing that I can recall.

I was gonna go into detail and say a lot more, but I have a lot to do at work today, so I'll keep it brief.

While Olbermann is a biased left wing pundit, and O'Reilly is a biased right wing pundit, in MY opinion, that's the only thing they have in common.  O'Reill has time and time been dead wrong on his arguments, used false facts, or tried very hard to tie a single event into a huge deal that somehow degrades all liberals.  Olbermann is not at all that bad, or wrong.  Biased, yes, but he is NOT on Bill O'Reilly's level.  No one outside of radio is.

people in this thread are all making logical arguments, but I would like to contend that it is easier to agree with Olberman because he is more respectful, professional, even when bashing someone. In addition, the conservative base has sponsored so many measures that are undeniably wrong and perverse, that the liberal standpoint is much more appealing. It isn't just the dems that think left, it's the entire world, and they have united in condemning our every action since the instatement of this regime.

Bush really has fucked up, but we cant let some wacky left wing liberal come in either. Were in a pickle untill 08'. And the choices then dont even look that good.

That will always be a problem though. Not everybody is going to be politically active or fully understand such concepts; yet, for some reason they go out and vote for whoever based on their poster-promises or party. Such blindness will always be a significant factor in politics. Theres nothing we can do about it. Its just just the south, its everywhere. Stupid people with power make stupid decisions.

Yet from my experiences traveling Europe a few times, people there are much more aware of American politics than we are as a whole, and FAR more involved and educated on their own politics than America, and this is a reason a lot of them disrespect us.  I've heard it from a number of people I've talked to, how blind and stupid Americans are towards politics.  It's scary to them, and it is to me as well.

A great example of how involved they are was this fall while I was in Budapest, Hungary for a semester.  Their president was caught on tape in a roundabout way admitting to lying about some things he said during the run up to the election (I believe they over stated some of the sucsesses he was responsible for).  They RIOTED for 4 straight nights, as well as a massive (I heard quarter of a million people, and protests are STILL going on today there, and will until he leaves.  Everyone in the country was aware of what was going on and was demanding he leave office.  Compare this to the how much we know about the Bush admin lying about the case that lead to Iraq, as well as everything else that has happened and all the curruption that we know about, and yet we don't do jack shit.  It's sad, and scary, that we sit back and let our country get shit on for 8 years.  We need to be sending our message more clearly... like this:

yeah thats probably the thing I hate about America the most. People think "oh what bad can come from it, a president is a president."

Well after seeing Bush in office the answer is simple: thousands of dead soldiers. Our families, our relatives, the people we care about merclessly being thrown at the most pointless war ever as if desposible. (even though all wars are pointless in my opinion).

umm, no, both the leading democratic candidates will make great presidents, the pickle is that one's black and young and the other is a woman. and we'll see if gore runs, that could be interesting. you have obama on one side who is a charismatic speaker that the american public can rally behind, but lacks the experience in the eyes of some people. hillary is incredibly smart and has all the experience in the world, but she doesn't have that charisma that obama has or bill clinton has. also, there are some stubborn ass sexist people in the south that just won't vote for a woman. gore is the wildcard, having already won a presidential election, and having an enviromental friendly view, though his monotone can put people to sleep sometimes.

whats really sad is how this administration has snuffed out the voices of common sense from within, people like powell, and even condi rice, and all in the name of self profit for people who don't need it to begin with. it's one thing for people from the upper middle class to support bush who gives tax breaks for their hummers, it's another when the very people he throws his garbage upon support him. i find it incredibly sad that the govenator is more socially aware than our own president. i just wish that pretzel had finished the job.

The biggest problems with democracy can be traced directly to a comparison between Bush and Hillary. Bush is utterly incompetent and irresponsible, but likable: a demagogue, and thus gets himself elected. By all accounts Hillary is very capable of running the most powerful nation on earth, more so than her husband, but she'll have trouble because her personality is grating and she's tough to really like. What a stupid way to decide the shape of the world, all this voting turned out to be. Not that it'll matter if someone gets into the electronic voting machines. Seriously, were paper votes so hard?
