Burly bindings - help me narrow it down

Ok, so heres my deal. For reference, I'm 5'11, 160. I'm getting some EP Pro's for next year, so that should tell you what I'm skiing most of the time.

Bindings. I need some for these bad boys. The main problem thats causing my uncertainty is the width of the actual ski... 125 is large underfoot. And I'll be honest - I dont want to be bending brakes, especially the repair pairs I know I'll be buying after I explode the first set (like what happened to my Madens last year). I'm liking the Rossi Axial 2 Free 200 XXL for this reason. Wide brakes that wont require bending past 5 mm come standard, and I've used Axial 1 120's before, and kinda liked em.

Rossi also makes XXL brakes that you can buy separately as well, so the option exists to buy another type of binding and just stick these on.

Now, heres where I need your help. What about other options? Deadbolts? P-18 wides? What else could a Rossi XXL brake conceivably fit? Other great bindings I should consider? (And no, Dukes are over my price limit)

I wouldnt go with P18/FKS just because the EP's are sooooo soft, I think that they might tear out. Salomon, 4FRNT, and the PX series have wider screw patterns. And the bindings you have above are the 2008 FKS 185?(i didnt check), but they have the axial heel, so i think those would be good...

They are Rossignol Axial 2 Free 200 XXL WB Bindings I believe. Heres the info I've got on them off Proctor Jones:

The 2007-2008 Axial 2 Free XXL Bindings have 120 mm wide brakes and a 10 to 18 DIN. They are non lifted, and provide a tight connection to the ski making them a great choice for freeride and backcountry skiers.

just get s916s or the new STH 16.  Super burly, super easy to get brakes that will fit.

I have some 115mm brakes tweak a tiny amount to fit my FFFs (118 waist) and I've seen people easily bend their skinny brakes to with spats (125).

serious. s916.  fat brakes. problem solved.

Yeah, they are the replacement for the pivoting FKS 185. The PX series/Axial series is solid. That looks like a good choice for what you need.

Iggy, I promised myself I'd never go with Sollies after my s912 experience... But yeah, they do have 130 brakes available this year. Its an option, but I'm liking the rossis over them as of now. BTW, how wide do your Dukes come?

trust me.

I promise you I hate s912/s914 just as much as you.  I fucking HATE them.  horrible bindings.

s916 are completely different. so so so much better.  I like them a lot more than P18/FKS too, but that is more a personal thing, as those bindings are sick too.

seriously, s916. 

O...and I canceled my Duke order.  It was $300 that ON3P needed a lot more.

yeah those ones look pretty solid but just check how wide the screw pattern is on them. other then that id reccomend s916s because there tanks and can get brakes fairly easily for them and deadbolt 816s because they come with wide breaks and there pretty beefy

yeah, sth 16. its a metal-rienforced 914. or you could just get 916 but those are heavy as hell.

I really dislike the new px/axial series, the bindings are so long, especially the heel. Id go with some solomons or fks.

except because its such a big ski the fks and p18s have a very narrower mounting point so they can rip out alot easier then other ones

exactly what I said, but, also take into accound the softness of the ski. That would make a tear-out all that much more possible.

Please don't buy the PX/Axial 2's. They're really horrible bindings. I've never met anyone with good luck with them. And I'd get some FKS or a pair of S916/STH's.

Your options are as follows:

1. - Do what Scott said, get some S916s (or maybe the STH 16 when the come out) and have a sick binding.

2. - Get the new Look/Rossi bindings, and most likely hate them, cause as we all know, the PX heel is shit. End of story.

3. - Buy my Axial Race 140s with the pre-bent brakes, have the good ol' pivot heel, and help me pay for college.

#1 and #3 are the only options worth considering, and #3 would make me verrrry happy.

i have race 140s and they are a quality binding for sure, you'd probably be fine withe the heel pattern, just make sure to heli coil.

hey, no one mentioned. that binding has no vertical release. if you want that you have to go with a salomon binding pretty much. and as reference, ep rides marker bindings so they would most likely be best.

^im pretty sure that pollard rides sollys.
i would get some 916s or those heli coiled race 140s (i have 2 pairs and they are so dope) or find some p18s. personally i dont trust the new axial heel because ive seen it blow up on people multiple times and i dont like that it doesnt pivot.

Exactly.

I easily bent 105mm brakes to 133mm on my 916s to fit over my ARGs. I'm going to try and bend regular 75mm brakes to 113mm this fall, but I may have to get new ones. Salomon brakes are so easy to bend though.

You can find 916s or old s900 9-16s for pretty cheap now. The STH 16 is also a good call, though those are a little more pricy.

Pollard might now ride Dukes. Which are wicked bindings, but in the past you are right he has been on 916s.

Get the s916 or STH 16.

I agree, I absolutely HATE Solly bindings, actually, I ride FKS on my skis, but with EP's the heel screw pattern is so tight, they might rip out of soft skis. Seriously, Solly is the way to go on this
