i personally dont poach hills. but i do know kids that do. it sucks cuz i work at wild and when i see them i'm suppose to turn them in, but if i do they wouldnt like that and nobody in the park would like me anymore.

Its cheap and easy to get away with, Especially at Wild. I know people that have poached Wild for 4-5 years runnin. Aaron G. told us that the Park Crew was supposed to turn people in too, but we never did.
Although...The one time we just got tired of Wild and decided to poach Troll, we got caught. Not sure how though cause we took the most round about way of getting to the park. Someone clearly saw us obviously....but it wasnt cool, we had to pay double rates AND leave. It twas lame. They even walked us out to our car to make sure we left. As we were coming out to our cars after we were caught Calvin had just arrived to join in on the poaching...but luckily we told him with several hand signals to scat before they got him too. Then we just went to wild afterwards and had a good session, probably because we were mad. Good times.

i got caught poaching the first time out this season at Wild, but played it coo. while my friends were getting yelled at by the ticket counter i slipped this girl who had just gotten to the counter a free ticket i had wanted to save and she didn't know i was with the group of poachers so she printed my ticket and i just put it on and was like bam and they let me ski

Me and my friend got arrested for poaching at Buck like 4 years ago. It was ruff, they took our boards and cuffed us and everything. And then we got a big angry speech from the owner.

I poached at a really strict place in Massachusetts during Christmas Break Sucessfully, I had never been more proud, however most of the lifties knew me, and or were stoned, and for the past 7 seasons before that I had a season pass there, sooo maybe it wasnt that succesful, but the owners didnt get me

Sorry guys, but I'm not a fan of poaching your "home" hill whatsoever. Marquette Mtn barely makes any money, and what money they do make, put back into the park and stuff. It's pretty easy to get a free season pass here, i worked like 10 hours this winter for the ski school, got paid for doing that along with a free season pass. Theres just better ways to do it than break the law.
Father Reed is done with his lecturing, and is gonna go smoke some pot.

Thats what i do teach a couple lessons and work Park Crew and get a free pass.
Then it pays to know people at other resorts so you can get in free there..

poaching is bad mkay... 1. if u get caught your fucked, 2. its bad for the ski area cause they lose money that could go to the park, 3. easier ways to get a pass. i have a pass to hyland and my dad coaches out a buck so i get into there free, at hyland i have forgotten my pass got caught and had to spend 15 min talking to the rent-a-cop and the desk proving i have one and then having to sweet talk the ppl at the dest into giving me a ticket for the rest of the day, oh and this was all happening during the practice for one of the nybora comps. and what i said about working for your pass, you can work at the ski skool (like i will next year) and get paid to ski (with little ppl) and a free pass (not to mention those sexy jackets), and the money that they are losing could be used to get new rails adn boxes (or a p.o.s. wall) and snow guns and to have a better groomer and park crew. i know i kinda copied what a few ppl allready said but w/e its true and i feel like talking.

speaking of poaching...a group of snowboarders were trying to poach the high north lane last week at session 2 and we were all eating lunch so we all charged at them with snowballs and pretty much owned them. and then later on 2 more snowboarders came and poached and a fight started up on the glacier, it was pretty sick.
all i got to say, if ur going to poach get ready to pay the consequence what ever that may be if u get caught.

poaching is what's up. at least at wild. fucking park crew there is lazy as hell and all the guys on there get free tickets. there are a few kids who do work but that's about it. the park is usually always shitty and when i go i end up working for at least half hour every time i go with luke or kyle or cal to make the shit nice enough for a fun sesh. none of the kids there even give us any respect and we're the ones fixing their shit. so since i'm putting in work i feel like i have the right to ski for free. fuck wild mountain.

true dat! luke and cody seem like the only ones that actually put an effort into making the park sweet. and aaron too... before he tore his acl, and hes not even on park crew. everytime im there, theres no features that have nice lips n the jump usually sucks. the only time it seems like most of the pc actually work is when they want to session stuff, then they just make it crappy all over again. ahh!!

Ok, so maybe I'm just in the "I really wanna ski" mind-set. I'm tired of the hate.

welch your fucked if you get caught they make you buy a ticket and pay and extra 50 dollors and dont let you leave till you do. and if you say "they cant make you stay there" it's either that or they press charges. the'll call the police and all kinds of shit

i don't poach anymore because of a couple run ins with the police this season (they caught me ridin' dirty) i didn't buy lift tickets because i was never checked for a ticket, but this past season i bought a ticket to everywhere i went in the midwest and wasn't checked once, really lame.

When free skiing dies or everyone has made their money and bailed, we'll see how many people were happy about buying online and poaching. Any little bit makes a difference.
Poaching is exactly the same as stealing. I am guilty in the past, but that doesn't make it right.

I remember when I was younger and we would go to the far sides of Granite to get away from the crowds, college kids would always drive to the top of Granite on the backside, where the state park is, and park and then just hike down to where the runs start and ride down.
I would do it today, if my parents didnt buy me passes there (my dad gets them discount for some reason.... :O ) just because you can bet that none of their money is going to the park.
It also would be easy to get away with, ie: I keep my pass inside my coat cuff, and there has probably been one time all last winter where someone asked to see it. The first time I skied out west, at Big Sky, I was shocked at how they had to scan everyones pass, every single time through...

As long as I can afford it I will always buy passes, but I can see where the rest of you are coming from. If you guys can get away with it fairly easily, its your choice.
