College and parents problem

ok the situation:
im going to be a senior this year so im using this summer to look at colleges. one of the colleges im interested in is colorado university. my dad was totally cool with it. we even planned a trip there two weeks from now. then my mom comes in my room the other night and says "you're not going to CU, we already decided. its too expensive". now this sounds reasonable BUT i looked it up and CU is within $1k tuition as all of the other schools that they're kind of pushing on me. so shes bullshittin me. my dad says she is nervous about me going that far away to college. (I live in cincinnati). im going into college undecided so what kind of programs different colleges have doesnt really matter too much, which is why im just looking for a college with good skiing, which pisses my mom off to no end because she hates skiing.
yeah i know it kind of a rant but if anyone else has had similar problems i could use help

This one's easy to solve. Find some things that colorado u is good at and tell your parents about them, and say that's why you wanna go there. Also, if money is still an issue, tell them you should still apply because you don't know how much financial aid you'll get..

So get scholarships....there are a million of them. Apply for a bunch, and if you get like two $500 you're set. Or just get over 1400 on your SAT's and you can be bloustine scholar and get 1000 bucks every year in college. Easiest way to get out of the $$$ situation.

^but the cash isnt the problem, my mom is just using that as a cover story. she really just:
A)doesnt want me to go that far away
B)hates the thought of me skiing a lot

Pay for college yourself then if your not willing to try to talk you parents into CU.
The campus is clean and it is a good school. It has some good programs. It is most certianly not a ski school.

Ahhh well then you've got bigger problems. But I know how you feel, cause my mom is often the most irrational human being alive.

Look at other schools in the Colorado area bsides CU boulder. They don't give out a ton of financial aid. If I would have known earlier I would have applied to Denver instead because while it is a private school thay give out more financial aid. ( My friend is going there for about 1/2 tuition). I was going through the same thing you are last year because I wanted to go to CU boulder, but my parents said it's too expensive/far away (live in Cinci also), so I decided on OSU which has trips out to Colorado every year and a decnetly active ski club. Then I'm planing on Colorado for grad school/ job area.

i'm in the same boat. just level with your parents. mine were totally against the whole fact of me going away especially to a college near a mountian. just sack up and tell her that skiing at a bullshit hill like perfects isn't enough. make a wager with her or somethin like you'll get at least all b's in college the first semester. i'd try your damn hardest to get outta ohio. the only bad part is you'll probably pay double unless you get a scholarship. thats the only reason why i might not go out east or west next year for college. i can go to a top 25 school like purdue in IN for half the price of some school like U of U or CU or UBC V. and if your mom is like mine and hates that you'll be so far away just tellin her you are leavin sooner or later. at least this way you are still comin home for the holidays!

You're parents are paying mad cash to put you through school. It sucks I know but you are at their mercy until you graduate and get a real job.

Tuition itself for CU may not be much more, but going to school that far away would mean you would probably have to travel there via airplane.
That means if you come home each year for Christmas, thanksgiving, and spring break that would be 4 round trip plane tickets needed every year. Add to that the cost of shipping all of your belongings. If money is an issue, they would probably prefer you to go somewhere within driving distance.
If the pay the bills, its ultimately their decision. Also, its more logical to attend a school that's much cheaper and closer if the education you would receive would be about the same as at CU.

well where would you be able to do some quality skiing near cincinatti anyway? that blows man. seriously my parents are assholes like they try to control me socially...they won't let me have a cell and I came home late from a party and my dad tried to beat my ass, but skiing is totally recreational and healthy and they don't care if I do that. you have to point out that where ever you go you won't be seeing them that much, CU is the best fit for you, and that skiing will encourage you to stay on top of your workload (time management wise). and ask them would they rather have you drinking every night away, depressed because you can't ski?

1. its no colorado
2. its hella expensive
but b-town is mad sick, and vermont is home to the easts sickest skiing
but def fuck that, CU and tell your mom to let you be happy for once in your life, or your marrying a goat

CU is really expensive...for me anyway.
but i'm going to western just because it's cheap as hell and CB is right there.
why don't you go to a 2-year college at first then transfer? you can go to school for pretty cheap and get your residency. i hear you have to have like 24 credits to transfor or something. that's what my friend told me and that's what he's doin. he gonna rent in boulder, go to front range for how ever long he needs then transfer to CU.

well im gonna keep trying i guess. my dad is on my side but that isnt much help because he's a pussy and my mom wears the pants. if CU dont work though im thinkin wisconsin. no better hills there but at least they got longer seasons. oh and perfects isnt a bullshit hill, i think they do really well for what they have to work with and i dont know how id live w/o it

because in ohio theres shit skiing so we make up for it talking about our dreams.
about the college situation work your ass off senior year both acedemically, and with a job, and offer to pay for the college, and as long as you pass they can reimberse you. this way they think ur taking more responsibility, also, for the travel situation, u can book flights in super advanced, and cut down on that.
o yeah be happy that ur parents are helping with college, i have to pay my whole way through and im gonna be in for about six years.
