As you may know there has been lots of hype and attention towards the relativly new Moment skis company. With all this intrest im just wondering how many of you are seriously thinking of buying these or have already decided to buy them.
In addition to the Jibs + Rockers (which i mentioned above), I love the look of the Ruby... seems the perfect ski for me living in the West (Vancouver).
Prob is I'm like 170cm and quite light (around 115/120lbs), but 14 y/o so I will still grow but don't think a Ruby 180cm is the right ski for me. But it lookks soo sexy.
Lyndon doesnt have a job, nor a surplus of funds, so he will not be buying new skis this season. Wait, i just got new ones on warranty. K, forget it, Im still not getting any skis from Moment. Ill give them a season to prove thier quality and customer service first.
The Ruby is an awesome ski. It's very stable at speed and has plenty of float to it. I'm only 150lbs and had no problems when I skied it, so it might work for you. I aslo know somebody around the same size as me who owns a pair and loves them.
On the site, it shows the black/white ones, but I've seen a few of those light brown/tan ones around too... what are the actual graphics? black/white/grey ones?
im looking for some east coast park skis and im looking into moment but they are a lil pricy for me i have a lot of other expenses so i try to get cheaper or slightly used skis
dude 180 is not to big. for the size of the ski it handles incredibly easy for such a big ski. and really if you think about it-especially if you mount em close to center- 180 isn't that big.
I don't get why so many people want Moments. Very few have ridden them, and those people hype them up as much as possible on NS, probably with multiple aliases. This is just like Ninthward last year, and look what happened to them. They are cheaper skis with proven durability and company backing, so why buy Moments? Besides, "helping the industry", which is a joke.
Ok for one thats a fuckin ludicrous idea to think that a company would make fake aliases. Seriously Moment is doing nothing like what 9thward did. They are all hand made skis made to last and as the guys can tell you there is proof that they hold up and last. I myself ride Moment skis and have never in my life found anything better.
And for supporting them? Well who gives a shit if they came up with the ideas or not but they are really putting something into progressing this sport. Square tips, reverse camber and insane flexes might just set something wicked and ill as shit off in some tangent. I'm all for supporting a new company with great ideas.
Don't hate on good concepts man. And does EVERYONE really want Moments? That would make for no competition. No one wants that.
Maybe less like 9thward and more like Liberty, kids got hyped on them and the skis turned out to be complete garbage. I also don't think square tips are progressing the sports, it makes the skis stand out from others, but definetly not progression.
^ agreed, don't have to like them, but don't hate on them if you havent ridden them.
and also, noone said square tips were progressing the sport... it just sets u apart from everyone else, and looks different. nothing to do with progression
how is the reno rocker supposed to be? like how big is the rocker and does it hold its own on hardpack? cuz from what i hear most rockered skis suck on hardpack
the rocker has a small rocker haha so its better suited on hardpack than other rockered skis for the most part...or so i hear but i tihnk link80 can clear that up for us
First off how can you even claim that they are hyping their skis under multiple aliases? Why don't you find some threads or any proof at all that this is happening.
Secondly the reason I bought Moment Ski's is because they create skis directly for the customer. Many big company's have their skis manufactured overseas while all of Moment's skis are built in Reno and are tested by their riders and engineers who are all just as stoked on skiing as we are.
In the Moment Ski's Cult you can ask whatever questions you have regarding their skis and they will be answered directly by someone who works with the company. They are extremely helpful and will even tailor a ski to your liking if you ask. I personally think it's awesome that you can talk directly to the person who is making your skis.
Finally, Moment isn't a brand new company so it's not like anyone who is buying their skis is taking a huge risk of getting a crappy product. Moment has been around for four years, this is just their first year of increased production.
can i get a invite to the moment skis cult by someone. and im deffiantly looking into them when my skis are trashed which is probably next season. i havent heard anything bad about them only good stuff. this upcoming years stuff looks really good like the reno jibs if i had cash i would for sure buy those right now
Just reading up on what people have to say about moment on NS...
I'm down in New Zealand right now for some comps and I'm rockin 4 pairs of moments here... a reno jib for slope, a jib thats a little stiffer for pipe, and a melee and a comi in the back country. they are all off the hook! I've been hitting some big jumps and taken some big crashes and they are holding up great.
Pretty much every person on the hill at snowpark has commented on how sick the skis look. people are diggin the square tips and the sweet graphics.
The pipe has been pretty bullet proof, which has really given me a chance to put the jibs to the test. they are beasts! and are definately the poppiest most aggressive pipe ski I've ever ridden.
I rode some backcountry off the remarkables the other day on the melees and they made me cream my pants. they make skiing switch in the pow easy. I was able to take off and land switch on natural hits like it was the park.
Haven't had a chance to take the comi's out yet... NZ doesn't quite get as much snow as Tahoe. But as soon as we get another dump down here I'm goin heli skiing and I'll be on the comi.
By the way, Luke... There is a few shops down here that saw my skis and want them!
