hey i was wondering when you could start skiing in the fall in Europe...Can you ski as early as October without going all the way up to Scandinavia? What resorts have the earliest openings... i know there are glaciers and stuff but i duno any details
some resorts never close like Zermatt will be open with a park july, august, september, october, november... Zermatt is particularly excellent in October.
I think the best place to go early season is Les Diablerets, because it's sick and has a sick park. Shortly after that Laax opens with a park, like mid-november.
Most european resorts don't bother about building a park early season though, and forget about skiing powder before December.
steer clear of tignes outside of winter, glacier is getting so bad there. as micheal says, its all about zermatt, les diab, or laax for early season. i believe les2alpes opens quite early but am unsure when exactly. their glacier setup tends to be unreal.
Saas-Fee should be open all the way through september and october, with emphasis on "should be" because last season they had to close. Personally, I find Saas-Fee too icy in october... but otherwise the park is sick....
laax isnt opening early this year.. plan is 16th of november, but last season it was ealry dec until only the glacier was open, and then, there is only one lift and a small park..
youd better go to zermatt, les diablerets or hintertux
