use the magic wand tool or the lasso tool (right click for more options) to select the white area and then press delete. if that's not what you're looking for post back, not quite sure what you're asking.

I would say magic wand, select the white area, right-click, select inverse. Copy selected area, Create new document with transparent background, and paste.
