Once again Newschoolers I come to you with an urgent Itunes question. Whenever I try to open my Itunes this exact message comes up "The Itunes library is locked, on a locked disk or you do not have permission to write for this file". Please help me before I go crazy not bein able to listen to my music!
go to your music folder, press command + i, and see if the box that says "locked" is selected. if it is, uncheck it. AND PM ME FOR AN INVITE INTO THE APPLE HEADS CULT
1. Copy ‘iTunes 4 Music Library’ and ‘iTunes Music Library.xml’ out of your Music/iTunes folder. Put them on your Desktop.
2. Delete those two files from your Music/iTunes folder. Now the only
thing in there will be your ‘iTunes Music’ folder (unless you keep that
somewhere else, of course).
3. Start iTunes. It opens up empty. Now quit iTunes. Notice it has
created new, empty ‘iTunes 4 Music Library’ and ‘iTunes Music
Library.xml’ files.
4. Delete those new files. Copy your old files from your Desktop back into your Music/iTunes folder.

5. Start iTunes again.
(note:i'm not responsible for any messups that mess stuff up)
yea i saw that tutorial on some site that google rounded up but i was scared of deleting 5000 unbacked up songs so im just gonna call apple support tomorrow.
as long as you don't touch the songs in the folder you'll be fine. basically what you're deleting is a list of the songs. so as long as you look at what you're deleting you'll be fine.
Alright well I got it I used something else from another forum but thanks anyway.
Here's what I used in case anyone else needs it:
I got this once. I fixed it by duplicating the iTunes Library file in the Finder, then renamed the old one to something else and then changed to the new file to "iTunes Library".
The iTunes Library file is in the iTunes folder inside your Music folder
