video editing software

i have a hi 8 video camera that i use to do all my filming, but I need to get some editing software so i can add music, text, graphics, and cut parts of our footage. What is the best hi 8 video editing software i can get to do all those things and not have to blow 400 bucks on the software. well first off you are going to need a capture card. If you dont have one of those go buy one, sorry i can't recommend any, i work digital. As for software, I use adobe premiere but it costs about 400 bucks so Im not sure what other programs support analog capture.

PS, i didn't tell you this, but you can download it off morpheus or kazaa

is downloading that off morpheus legal and shit? because my brother had frontpage and when we got our comp fixed the guy said that it was illegal and we could be sewed.
