Snowboarding VS SKiing...... Rails

I remember Doug talkin in an interview about where skiing is going on rails. Whether it was going towards a agressive skating aproach or a snowboard approach. I believe that the end result was basically whatever makes the skiers happy and do wut feels good. Anyway with refernce to snow boarding Doug said that he wanted to see some more presses and that cause the way skis are designed that skiers wont be able to press like a board because of the leverage boarders have. I can agree.

To the point here about wut skeirs can do and borders can do on snow is alost identical in the air, except we can cross skies and i havn't seen a boarder to a 1440 yet i dont think (could be wrong). But boarders have rail presses and we have basically switch ups i guess.

But i do not believe tht boarders can PRETZLE. well maybe a little, for example rotating the lower body, but not really good. I just think that skiers can do mad pretzles like Matt Walkers 450 on 450 off pretzle (i think) and Tom's in his Superunknown Edit. 

That is another thing we have on boarders in my opinion

anyways skiing is still the shit anyway

snowboarder can do a 270 out and it doesnt even look like anything happened, it seems so effortless which is probably why in my opinion id much rather see a skier do a 270 out

the truth is that us skiiers are more into our sport. we have to be different and way good so we all dont fall into the 80s backscratcher scene. where as snowboarders. the only reason they do it is because everyone does it. and it is seen as the cool thing. so they dont have to try as hard to be accepted

with rockered skis and butter zones and all that shit i bet in a couple years skiers are gonna be able to do just as big of presses as snowboarders. skiing is still behind snowboarding but its progressing so fast we are gonna pass them really soon, look at skiing like 5 years ago, i cant stand watching most of the shit from back then, there was no style and everything looked gay and that was only 5 years. now look at snowboarding 5 years ago, its progressed alot but nowhere near as much as skiing, and stuff from then is still really cool now

i see like shifty sw ups on boxes, longer presses and just harder stuff going on in the future. progression in rollerblading just led to smoother, more aesthetic tricks and switch ups on harder rails.. so if skiing goes that direction.. good.

with all that shit it will do nothing. we will still not surpass was snowboarding has. just because we have different equipment, does not mean we have different tricks. jesus tits people.and no, we are not progressing faster then boarding.

and to someone above who said that it doesnt matter if boarders are going forwards or backwards on a rail, you fuckin try a front lip or back blunt to danish. you know nothing of the difficulty of it to lock on to an urban style rail facing backwards.

at my mountain snowboarders only 50/50. and a skier doing a rail is equivilent to a boarder boardslide, sure there are like one or two good boarders. and there are lots of good snowboarders, but from what i've seen skiers own snowboarders bad, and go alooooot bigger.

yeah maybe just at your mountain. skiers and boarders are equally good at mine.  also in all the movies i think snowboarders have way bigger booters and such. they may not do 1440s but it seems like they go bigger me

how about this. My buddy Mat ( who does not board, or ski) wants to get into either one of the sports. So i got him a few ski movies ( for board movies, true life, shakedown, robotfood, etc Ski movies: happy dayz, ready fire aim, Propaganda, Teddybear Crisis).

So we watched them all, and he was like : " Wow, snowboard movies are boring." Now i looked at him with a really fucked up expression. Cause personaly i love snowboard movies, i think their style if just sick. But then he explained to me that " all the tricks looked the same, and that the ski movies you could see the skiers get better, and progressing"

I think where you can see it is when you sit down with a normal person who is not into either of the sport, watch two compareable films. Like skiing just looks soo much more intense in comparison, and the tricks are so far in excess. And i think snowboarders can't say they have better style because look at pollard, and pep. These guys have just as much style if not more then any snowboarder out there. Then people would argue that snowboard films are way better ( and in some ways i would agree to those terms), but look at Teddybear Crisis, and Idea the film, show and prove. I don't think we can even compare anymore, i think our sports are on par.

If anything snowboarding is even starting to emulate skiing. Like out east snowboarders are starting to do some swtich ups after seeing skiers do them. But i will say, although snowboarding may have tons of style, skiing is a million times more technical. This is just because the physics of skiing lets us to do more.

uh yeah look at pep and andy on helbents, the can do crazy presses and shit just as good as most snowboarders, and its the first year anyone has tried it. in a couple years i bet people are gonna start making dual camber park skis just like that one company prajekt or whatever. people are starting to realise that boner stiff skis really arent as good as they thought they were, and companys like line are making skis soft as shit cause you can do so much more.
and look at snowboarding in the past 5 years and how its changed, the only thing that really changed is that people have started doing alot more creative urban jibs and stuff. but the actual tricks and style have hardly changed at all. then look at skiing, style has completely changed, and there are about double the grabs. and 5 years ago, almost everyone thought freestyle skiing was the gayest thing ever. now i have snowboarder friends who have been snowboarding for more than 10 years wanting to switch to skiing.

by pretzels do you mean just spinning out of the rail or coming off the rail the opposite way to how you spinned on?

ex. left side 270 on right side switch out?

what? first i think snowboarders are just as into their sport as skiers, maybe cus you view shawn white as played or something you dont think so but their are definitly some core snowborders that are pushing the sport.  and skiiers are definitly not pushing towards the "backscratcher" scene but the "backscratcher" scene is one of the reasons skiing is what it is today.  and what the hell are you talking about they dont have to try hard to be accepted i dont even know what point your trying to make.  "the only reason they do it is because everyone does it" their are fads in every sport and in everything we do even skiing.

almost every rollerblade grind would be pretty much impossible on skis. even if they were possible it would look sooooo horrible and forced. skiing is all about style, or atleast thats where its going, and doing rollerblade grinds fucks with style. we have BOARDS, not shoes if you want to pretend to be a rollerblader get snowblades.
skiing is its own sport its totally different than rollerblading, i dont get why people want to copy, just be fucking creative.

How is making our sport more technical ruining the legitimacy of skiing?
normal 270's on and shit like that is getting old, presses dont look that great on skis usually, switchups arent that great, skis are different than snowboards (when snowboarders grind they face either forward or backwards unless doing 50-50, when skiers grind they are usually facing to one side so how the hell do you expect us to do the same shit as boarders? its near impossible)

i disagree. when a nice press goes down, it's next level shit. what isn't next level is a foot drag or a one footer. it's such a struggle to make those tricks look pleasing to the eyes in their purest forms, let alone combining them with the necessary spins on and off of rails. they usually end up looking more like stunts than tricks. not so with using the noses and tails of your skis, it's only beginning...
