As with most jobs, knowing someone helps. If you work at a ski shop for a few years, you will start to get to know the reps and its not that difficult to get some type of rep job. A marketing degree or some type of other rep experience (drug, pepsi, anything)would help, but is not needed. From what I have herd, there are perks, but you travel A LOT and pretty much live out of a suitcase for part of the year. It's not for everybody, but you may like it.
There are also smaller reps that rep for small companies that might just go to a few shops. Anyways, good luck.

i suggest working in a local ski shop first and getting used to the companies, then start in the promotion part of the ski industry and work your way up to becoming a rep

i worked in a couple shops, got to know the product quite well and had a lot of success in selling.

one day out of the blue i got a phone call at work about a job opening...

remember there's a lot of swallowing your pride and admitting you're wrong when you know you're right while working in a shop.

always try and make that customer being an asshole feel like you treated you him like a VIP customer. (then go out the back door and beat the wall or an old shitty pair of skis)


and btw, being a rep is a lot harder than it looks. most of those guys are on strictly commission so if they don't sell, they don't have a blanket salary to save their ass. no sell = no eat

Go to University, read every ski magazine, do all your projects on the ski industry and volunteer as much as possible for your local rep and sell lots of skis!

not necessarily. just go to shops at a ski resort and if they are nice they'll hook you up with passes. at least thats what my shop does

bein a rep isnt all its cracked up to be, i dont kno any ski reps but i do know skate reps. they live out of there cars and drive all day. if u ask me i have more fun skating everyday.

yeah i think my armada rep drives a lexus. does anyone know what reps do in the off season, i've never thought to ask. but i swear i wrote to armada for stickers and i got an email from my rep way out in california (i live in indiana)

HH makes a ton of dope survival and work gear as well.  It is possible that HH hoody was from one of their different, non-skier oriented lines. 

My roommates works at a store that sells tons of their work and survival stuff to construction workers, fishermen, etc. He has brought some of their hoodies back and they are beefy and warm as fuck.  Much more so that just normal hoodies.

i used to want to be a rep.  until i started hanging out with one of our reps.  he said that it's the worst job ever.  you just get shit on by the company, work insane hours, don't really have a home, you don't get paid shit, and you never ever get to ski.  i mean, someone has to do it.  it's just sure as hell not going to be me.
