i have an old shitty PC ,macbook, a router, and an ethernet cable. the router doesnt have an output for a cable to go from it to the PC (a mere 3 feet if that), and i know that if i get a wireless card for the PC that it will fuck up and its just a waste, and were getting a new desktop in a month or two.
in the mean time, when ever i want to use the internet, i have to unplug the ethernet cable from the PC and plug it into the router. This makes the internet unavailible for the Pc, and vice versa when the cable is in the PC.
if the router had an output for an eithernet cable i could just plug one in from that to the PC and both would be fine to use at the same time. but that cant happen, so my question is this: can you buy a "Y" or splitter for ethernet cables? so i could have one go into the router and one go into the PC so you can use both at the same time?
i checked online and dont know enough about it to know what is what.. im on my way to a electronics store to check but i was wondering if someone gave me a quick answer.
and im not getting a new router, or a wireless card for my PC, as what i need is something fairly cheep and temporary.
Thanks for the help
