Seashell lodged under nail

i went to the beach and got a seashell stuck up under my thumb nail while skimboarding. i removed part of it but id rather just let my nail grow over it and have it in there to remember my trip. anyone think it could cause and infection or had this happen. it doesnt look infected or bad at all.

i looked on webmd and i think a layer of nail will eventually split and fall off i guess i could get the shell out with it
