Are my lizzies normal?

so i was checking out the flex and i noticed that the tails are stiffer than the tips? arent they supposed to have a symmetrical flex?

not so sure about what they are supposed to be, but i'm a fan of stiffer tail and softer tip. no real use for a soft tail unless you like poppin wheelies or somethin.

trust me you will want all the stiffness you can get out of those things when you ski them, they are soft enough.  and yeah, mine are the same way, they arent symmetrical.

The Elizabeth is a strange ski in this respect, some of the earlier models had varying flex as well (i.e. - the flex was very different from one pair to another, some were about as stiff as the newer models - which isn't THAT soft - and some were ridiculously bend-them-in-half soft) I think they are designed to be symetrical, and once you get on them they'll be fine...plus I feel pretty confidant in saying that you aren't so in tune with your skills and your gear to tell a difference.

True, I'd like those as well.
And I wasn't saying you can't ski, when I re-read that it sounded kinda jackass-like.
I was saying that it's goint to be really hard to tell whether your skis have a symetric flex or not.

well on their site they say, invaders, elizabeths, bacons have a symmetric flex plus the EP, anthem, and the chronic next year

oh ok.. cuz my friend has some invaders and the place he brought them to mounted them backwards... but since they have a semetrical flex it dont matter.

both pairs of lizzies i've had have had a similar flex, a little softer in the tip. but i encountered one pair last season that were just absolutely far and away the softest skis i've ever flexed, i did a side-by-side comparison to my pair and these were not even close in any regard. you could bend them in half with barely any pressure.

i always thought the symmetrical flex would make switch easier. oh and were those really soft ones 06's or 07s

its a symetrical ski but like moved back 2cm so its like they had a 174, then chopped 2 off the tail, that could be the reason for them being sfiffer, since the tail is shorter.

still the tail is not even close to stiff, you can hold the biggest butters for like a minuite straight, in the mini park i was doing 3's and landing in a butter.
how much do you weigh? if your really light i could why you would think they are stiff. but i only weigh 140 and they seem really soft to me.

06s I'm thinking, the first year were the ones I've heard that had this...the Elizabeths I flexed weren't nearly as soft as I was expecting. They need to make them soft as all get out.

from what i understand, some of the 06s were prototypes with a different flex.  mine are stiffer and have a diecut base instead of extruded and matte topsheet instead of glossy.  i thought all of the 07s were softies though.

So are yours the hard to get ones?
I know some of the original ones had the green base with blue dragon, and some were blue with green dragon.
I'm not sure if the base colors mean anything though, or if some just got the colors reversed.

base color matters not. i've had a pair with both different base colors and the flex was the same for both. the super noodle pair i flexed had the primarily blue bases though.

perhaps the difference comes from made in china lizzies vs made in canada lizzies, since i know the factory change was right around that time

i don't think the colors matter.  mine were made in canada and i got them straight from the rp, so i think they're the less common ones.

I heard the ones from Canada were stiffer than the ones from China, but I've never owned a pair, or compared the two, so I'm not sure. I just think it's weird that there would be such a difference in the flex of some of the skis.

howcome you want the super soft ones so bad... i think after you ride on them you will want all the stiffness you can get from them unless they are your purely untracked snow ski.  i mean, when you get on groomers on these suckers that are chopped up you are gonna want all the stiffness you can get.  and let me tell you, the switch performance is amazing symmetrical or not, they are absolutely incredible switch.

yeah even the "stiff" ones are about as soft as you can get.

it's scary enough going fast and straight on these skis, the freakishly soft ones i flexed would have only been good on the champagne-ist of days at low speed or dicking around at

on a side note......lizzies rule. i am so glad i found a good deal on a pair since i had to sell my first pair to help pay surgery bills.

im guessing you havnt skied your skis yet???

your ski will naturally soften out once you ride it

you make it seem like you have a stiff pair of skis on your hands. maybe they put the prophet core in yours... ha

Even the Prophet core isn't all that stiff, it's the metal matrix that makes them stiff, my 130s weren't that stiff, couldn't relalyt butter 'em...but they were definitely more of a mid-flex.

i would say the 130 and 100 in 186 are mid level stiffness but the 90s and such are pretty damn stiff

Right, but isn't that cause of the metal matrix?
The 130 doesn't have it, and it's pretty mid-stiff, but the ones I've flexed that had the metal were noticably stiffer.

like any ski, they break in and slowly get softer the more your thrash them. this thread is stupid you should seriously stop trippin about these skis. you will love them. period.

i still dont know how the flex being symmetrical would benefit switch skiing.  yeah it would ski the same both directions i guess, provided you nounted them true center, but then what is the point because the sidecut isnt true center so they will still ski differently.  so really there is no point to having a symmetrical flex on a ski that isnt a symmetrical sidecut because the fles would be shifted off the centerline of the sidecut.... if that makes any sense.  also, with such a fat ski if you weigh anything or are tall they will have tip dive when you mount them center.  it seems like if you are looking for a pure park ski that is symmetrical then you are making a big mistake unless you like the softest skis known to man.  i mean honestly for park they are really not that great of a ski, which it seems like that is what you are getting them for.  dont get me wrong they are great everywhere else but their flex really limits their use.  after a day of skiing them and my race skis ( i was at the hill for a race but brought both pairs to dink around between runs) i actually liked skiing the park on my 185 rossignol 9xs much better than the elizabeths.  granted i dont do rails and wasnt really hitting the park that hard, it just felt like they were much more solid in the air, and the landings were unreal on the race skis.  after switching back it was almost scary hitting jumps on the lizzies because landings we so sketch because they were so soft.  that and any sort of rut in the landings would just throw you for a loop.  so if you are looking for a fat park ski i would get something a little stiffer.  thats why i bought some karmas this year and center mounted them, because they are stiff enough to ski like a race ski, but they are a twin so they can spin easily too.  i am officially hooked on stiffer skis for everything except blower pow.
