Alot of people just act like they do, try finding some website reviews from students that used the camera, or just basic film sites that have product feedback reviews. You'll get much better answers then you will on NS. For how much your going to spend, you should go HD or HDV. The reality of it is, everyone is moving to HD in some form or another, it increases your production quality, and in the long run is beneficial to your future if you wish to pursue filming ski movies, or being a freelance cinematographer. If you buy a camera like the VX2000, your buying a great camera, but its out dating. If you find yourself doing this for a living you'll find yourself having to drop 3-5 g's again very quickly to step up to HD.
