well i play soccer, but not for the point of cross training for skiing. Its a great sport and almost 100% legs. You will have such better endurance then you ever thought you could have and your legs will be so much stronger. The average professional soccer play runs about 3-4 miles per game. So just think of it that way. Its basically long distance running, with a fun and competitive mindset. Youll be able to ski a lot longer before your legs start really burning and you wont be sore in the mornings after as much.
Hope that helps!
I agree with all of this accept the all legs part, soccer also requires a lot of core strength which is also good for soccer, but I didn't have to run a lot in games because I play goal, but thats physically and mentally demanding in its own way, plus my coach made me run more than everybody else in practice
not only does soccer give you that long endurance but it builds up your reaction speed and short bursts of agility. it enables you to easily coast along while skiing a wide trail to quickly transistion into some trees or something.
