So me and a few friends of mine are leaving at 8 am tomorrow for a 2978 thousand mile drive to Camp Of Champions in Whistler from Pittsburgh pa. It's gonna take about 5 long 10-12 hour driving days but it's gonna be fuckin worth it. If your gonna be up there for session A i'll see you fools on the glacier!!
With their new method the Wrights achieved true control in turns for the first time on October 8, 1902, a major milestone. During September and October they made between 700 and 1000 glides, the longest lasting 26 seconds and covering 622.5 feet. Hundreds of well-controlled glides after they made the rudder steerable convinced them they were ready to build a powered flying machine.
Thus, did three axis-control evolve: wing-warping for roll (lateral motion), forward elevator for pitch (up and down) and rear rudder for yaw (side to side). On March 23, 1903 the Wrights applied for their famous patent for a "Flying Machine," based on their successful 1902 glider. Some aviation historians believe that applying the system of three-axis flight control on the 1902 glider was equal to, or even more significant, than the addition of power to the 1903 Flyer. Peter Jakab of the Smithsonian asserts that perfection of the 1902 glider essentially represents invention of the airplane.
Well, we just returned and i would like to say that 44 hours in a car without stopping for hotel and just switching off driving and sleeping is not very fun. I would also like to add that I FUCKING LOVE CANADA and curse my parents for not being whistler locals and settelling for the middle class of pittsburgh hahah. But foreal such an amazing trip, i'm looking into duel citizenship right now and thinking about maybe even moving up there permanently within the next few years. i recomend whistler to everyone that enjoys perfect skiing, thousands of beautifull international women swarming in packs, a killer time pretty much every night, and delightfull people such as those who reside in British Columbia, the most beautifull place on earth! (as stated on the bc license plate)
^ so true, it's disgusting coming back to east caost and seeing how urban and gross it is. It's so beautiful over there. I have a summer/vacation house on the island. Best mtn biking, amazing scenery. Cool people, soo chill.
