that wasn't meant to sound mean - I just don't understand how Ron Paul (and you) have found this entirely different view of the world when everybody else, though we have the exact same rescources and opportunities, feel that there are threats in the world. I'm almost positive it's just a matter of psychology - realism (us) vs idealism (you), which isn't bad, but it's hard to see how idealists can view the world as safe and Iran not a threat when, even though they are democratically elected (though so are we and you can't trust our gov't either, eh?), they're funding those who are hurting us and our allies (Israel... though everybody hates Israel over there).

any country run by a man who doesn't believe that the holocaust ever happened can be considered a threat. the man's fucking nuts and if he possibly has access to nuclear weapons, then holy shit. but it's definitely not time to do anything rash, and obama agrees. all he has said is that iran is a possible threat because they've shown hostility towards the US and they possibly have nukes. if somebody hates you and they have an immense means of taking you down, wouldn't you consider them a threat?

if you're an athiest, you have the oppertunity to avoid religions biggest downfall... that of intollerance, yet you are squandering this by saying that the beliefe in god is a dangerous thing. For the few that go overboard in their fundamentalism, there are plenty of religious people who believe in a god but arn't dangerous like you say they are.

mel gibson may not be "harmless" in terms of killing people and having a nuke at his hands, but i'm sure he offends and causes more harm to families who have a history that is related to the holocaust than most church going folks.

Israel is our ally, and if he wants them obliterated, and we support them, I'd say the country is a possible threat. And are you saying that believing in something that people have believed for thousands of years that could possibly be true (do not let this argument go into religion) is more of a threat than believing not believing in something that is an absolute 100% proven historical fact that everyone with a fully functional brain believes in? the only reason mel gibson is harmless is because he doesn't run a country, and one with nuclear potential at that. imagine if the man was the leader of a country??

If Obama is elected this country will be on its way down the shitter, beyond the point of no return. Needless to say, Bush has already put us on the path, that fucker, but putting in a democrat will only make matters worse. Obama's got really nothing going for him over the other candidates besides being half black. Stupid white people will vote for him because they've lost sight of their own identity and don't want to be "bigots". I couldn't help but cringe yesterday at my graduation when some stupid girl brought in that we could be the open minded generation that "elects a woman or black president!" during her speech. Before you call me a "white supremacist", know that I'm half Chilean and have lived there for a about half of my life. I've also lived in Mexico, England, and Costa Rica, so I'd say I have a good view of what the world is like unlike most American kids who live in their suburban cocoons.

Americans, in general, are usually too stupid to realize how fragile economies are. Once this country loses its economy, it has nothing. Corrupt democrats and republicans just keep levying more and more taxes. The wheels have already been sent in motion for the exodus of wealth from America, simply put its becoming too difficult to run a profitable business without being robbed by the government. There is a strong sense of inequity in this country, many people work 6 months out the year for the government to pay their taxes. A government that pays ridiculous pensions and benefits to government employees, while those in the private sector get fucked out of their money at every turn. I'd also like to add that I have strong doubts that this country will survive with a white minority.

That being said, I would rather have Obama over Hillary anyday but its just the lesser of the two evils.

athiests do not have these scriptures, books, and teachings that would make them be intollerant.

ok... enough is enough... I like Ron Paul as well... but there is a fucking snowball's chance in hell of him winning the election in 2008.

#1 The repulicans are not going to let him run on their ticket. That means he'll be running as an independent.

#2 There are WAY too many people in this country that vote simply on the party and not on the candidate.

I'm sorry there is no way in hell of Ron Paul winning the election. Voting for him is like throwing your vote away.

You need to vote realisitically. Look at the candidates that actually have a fucking shot of winning the election. Then cost benefit analysis and personal judgement takes over. Your better off getting someone in office that will address some of your issues rather than the chance of getting someone that will address even fewer of them.

NOW... i'm not saying that this is right... it's actually quite fucked up... but sadly thats how you play the game.

As of now, I think Ron Paul is the closest on par with what I think would be best for America. Sadly though, there is a clear media conspiracy against him. Although I disagree with him on some points, for the most part he knows the deal. Lower taxes, smaller government, less government spending, secure border with a stop to illegal immigration, against the Iraq War, and he is not part of the government pension program that I hate. However he does not fully recognize the threat of islamic fascism and that is a problem.

What we have in the U.S. right now is Scandinavian taxes with no Scandinavian benefits, except perhaps for the state employees. Socialism will not work in America.

American politics have turned into a twisted popularity contest. The issues no longer seem to be relevant, its all about recognition. Honestly, who in their right mind would vote for a psycho, power hungry woman like Hillary Clinton? She is just riding her name, nobody would give a fuck about her if she didn't have the name. Obama is a novice, nowhere near fit to run the superpower of the world. He seems like a good man at heart though and he is a good speaker. Him being black should have no bearing on whether or not he receives the nomination though.

fuck you dude, i'm not trying to make my self out ot be any better than anyone else. I was defending obama's belief in god as something that is not dangerous when someone else tried to compair his belief in god to GW's belief in god.

i was making a point that the kid who said that anyone who believes in god is a danger to society does not have an excusefor being intollerant of others choice to religion if he's an athiest. His intollerance is as you said something his own. But he doesnt HAVE to be that way, there is no book saying so, where as religions do have a book to provide an exscuse for their intollerance.

you accused me of lumping all religious people in with fundamental muslims, saying chirstians are far less dangerous.

go talk to anyone over in the middle east, i'm sure they'd say that evangelical christianity is more dangerous than the average muslim.

can the ron paul suporters tell me how he plans on fixing our massive national debt without raising taxes?

a no tax system might sound good for the individual prima face, but you have to look at things from the big picture, the individual is benifited most when the whole society is bennifited.

A tax reform, and raise so that the wealthiest people take the majority of the tax burden off of the middle class seems like a better option than cutting funding from other parts of our society.

He is not planning on totally getting rid of the complete tax system, just the ones he feels are wrongfully abusive on the middle class. Basically he is standing for a change in the tax system so that is more fair to the common man.

Lets go back to my original post.

#1 Ron Paul is not going to be the Republican Party candidate in 2005. I'd bet the house on it.

#2 An Independent is not going to win the election.

...Thus Ron Paul is not going to be the president in November of 2008. If you vote for Ron Paul you're going to be wasting a vote that could've put someone in office that at least has some shot of getting some of your issues addressed. Notice I'm not even supporting any other candidate. Fuck it. I don't even know who I'm going to vote for next year. But I can tell you that it wont be Ron Paul. I'd much rather vote in the lesser of two evils into office, than simply make statement and risk the greater of the to evils being elected.
I'm sure that after you vote for Ron Paul next November you're going to get a great euphoric sence of satisfaction about the great deed you just did and probably enjoy the smell of your own farts, while you tell everyone "see guys he came on really strong as an idependent. he got 5% of the vote. But at least we did our best to vote for the best guy for the job! yay!"

Like I said, I actually love Ron Paul. He has some great ideas, like streamlining the government, and reducing spending and the works. He's a really down to earth guy. But some of his ideas are just flat out not possible. Like someone else said, theres no way we can reduce the deficit, through cutting spending alone. Not to mention he wants to reduce taxes, and eventually elimiminate federal income tax. He's a great guy, it's just a shame that he does have a chance in hell of winning the election.

I hate independents because they fuck shit up, and help fuck-tards like Bush get into office, because people like you would rather vote for "the best guy for the job". I know that sounds so terrible for me to say, but it's true.

this is a very high quality post. I also think that Ron Paul has some good concepts. I also think that Ron Paul is far too idealistic with some of his approaches. Things are much more complicated than what he makes them out to be and problems are not solved as easily. If he does end up getting the independent nomination (since he clearly won't get the republican nomination - and Eleven, or conceptkid, don't even bother refuting that. Even if he is a "true conservative," he differs far too much with the rest of the republican party to even think about being nominated) any vote towards him will be a vote to the republicans and a vote away from the democrats. So if Ron Paul really wants to help out his party, he'll run as an independent.
