Replying to Getting a passport, complete bs

I am pissed off at US passports. I don't know how it is is Canada, but its probably not as shitty as it is here. They rip you off so much and those lazy ass government workers work as slow as molasses in january.

I am leaving in the middle of september to go to bolivia for about two and half months. Obviously, I need a passport to go there. No big deal. I only got home from college about 5 days ago, so I haven't really had time to find my passport and such. I find it at home, and lucky me, it expires in October of this year, so i need to renew it. I log onto the passport site, and of course the renew page isn't even loading. Great. Eventually, i change computers and check it out. Since I was under 16 when i last got mine, I have to apply for a completely new one, and I can't do a mail order renewing, I have to go to the post office. The post office sucks already because its open like 4 hours a day. I go this morning and get there without a hassle.

I walk in, and there is a short line. I see some random parents of my friends/teamates from high school and make small talk. My turn comes up. You have to get 2 pictures of a very specific size and nature, but the charge you 15 dollars to take a fucking glorified polaroid. What the fuck? That should cost like 3 dollars max. Also, the post office fee was 30 dollars. I don't even know what that is for. In addition to the 15 and 30 dollar fees, the passport fee is 97 dollars. Where does that money go to? Nobody knows. And despite the fact that I paid well over a hundred dollars for a little blue ID book, I have to wait 12 weeks. This is the part that really pisses me off. If I paid 60 more dollars, i could have it in 5 weeks. So in other words, this is a legalized bribe. Its complete shit. How long does it take to put my picture in a little notepad type thing and put my information in there?

But, I am leaving in mid September, almost exactly 13 weeks from now, a bit longer. It wouldn't surprise me at all of my passport wasnt here because of those lazy shit heads who make my passport. I will not be very happy with if a passport prevents me from doing a trip I am REALLY looking forward to. And its not like this is last minute, I am 3 months in advance. So fuck you passport service, get off your ass and stop charging people an arm and a leg for something that should be either free or WAY cheaper. And why the fuck does it take you 3 months to make a passport?
