Alright so my elbow has been hurting for about a week now and I just finished pitching a game today. It REALLY hurts now like if I move it in certain ways its a sharp pain. You know how theres sort of 2 slots on your elbow? It hurts on the one closest to my torso. I'm a righty. I've been trying to look stuff up but I can't really seem to find anything. Do you guys know of anything helpful?
That really helped. I just want to know if anyone has any idea what it is. This just happened tonight I don't want to drop money on a doctors visit that could be solved easily. I'll go if I have to.
i would ice for about 20 minutes on and off repeadetly all day. also take about a week off form throwing completley. another thing i did was i got like a neoprene elbow thing to put on ym arm when i throw. it givs it support and it doesnt breath and its skin tight so once your arm gets hot and sweaty it will stay loose much longer. but my advice to you is to ice ice ice and take a long break from throwing. if you go back and its still hurts then i would go to the doctor.
also when u go back to throwing i would go in lightly, dont go in and just start throwing your hardest
My arm is almost in pain on a standard basis. I played in 3 leagues and pitched in all of them. You just gotta ice the shit out of it. And if it hurts right in the elbow I know you could be a prime candidate for tendonidious (sp?) at least thats what my coach told me. Also the tendon in your arm (the inside part of your arm that faces your body) make sure you ice that. Stretch it everyday. And take ibuprofen. I usually take one before a game or practice even though I probably shouldn't pre-medicate like that.
^I've thrown with pain before and this isn't normal. It kills to move it in certain directions. Not like arm is sore pain, like something is wrong kinda pain
Go see a doctor and check it out. If your arm hurts, don't throw at all. It will be worth it in the long run if you address the problem now than if you keep throwing while it's hurt, causing it to get worse. My buddy pitched all last year and after he pitched and a little during he had some pain, but not much. On a scale of 1-10 it was like a 3. But in the offseason, he went to see a doctor and it ended up his elbow was pretty fucked up. For about 5 months he couldn't throw at all.
It wasn't pain pain, just the normal its a little soreness. Usually just stiff, playable stuff. It started hurting after I got home too, if that makes any difference.
Make sure you have enough off days before the next time you pitch also. I ice my arm everyday usually, even if I don't feel any noticeable pain. But if it hurts at all when you're throwing, don't throw. Your coach can't get pissed that you can't throw because your arm hurts and you don't want to hurt it more. About 95% of kids won't tell coaches if there arms hurt anyways.
yeah i would have that looked at by a doctor, but i hate to say it it might be tendonitis (sp?). i remember a kid i knew had it and he said it killed right near his elbow
you should seriously get it checked out, it seems like you are in some pretty serious pain, and your elbow isnt something you want to fuck around with. Has for the tendinitis, I think everyone might be right, my friend had it in his wrist or something from taking to many shots in hockey
WELL.... for your sake I HOPE you have tendonitis, but inside ligament (if torn) will require Tommy John Surgery. Long recovery, 80% cahnce of full recovery.
get it checked out. pitching with pain sucks, esp when u know u can and have to push harder. I havent thrown without pain for more than half a year now....its tough
ya i have the same thing from my baseball days. pretty much youll have that forever and youre fucked. throwin a ball will prolly hurt now son. all bout the hour long warm ups now
sounds like you need to learn how to throw a curveball differently to me so get youy arm better than learn how to throw a differnt curveball u have what is called little leauge elbow
wow everyone that has posted in this thread about having pain when they pitch and then continue to do so is fucking retarded. you guys obviusly dont care about your arm at all or your baseball career. fuck you shuld be pitching at all now if it really hurts. all of you are dumb for throwing through pain and not thinking about long term consequences. fuck retards
uhm...i had a joint capsule a couple weeks ago, its like when you mess up the joints where stuff connect...I just took it easy for a couple days....and if thats not it then get some icy hot and freakin cowboy up. haha.
Yeah he is right it has to be tendonidous. I had it in my elbow and in my shoulder, it sucks. I was the only pitcher on my one team, then also played select, so i would pitch almost every 3 days for that one
yeah like lay off the pitching and ice it. cause if u let it get really bad u r screwed for pitching. in practice try not to throw a lot. and in practice if u r pitching do u throw 100%?? cause that would screw u too.
i need to learn a little bit more? well for 1 my mom works for like 10 orthopedic surgeons and there always asking me how my arm is. 2, i have seen the best pitcher in the state(for that league) not be able to pitch any more because he threw with a little bit of pain every once and a while. went to the doctor and the doc told him your not supposed to throw anything, for 5 months. now if u will exuse me i have better things to do than argue
you mightve tore or pulled the tendon there, my friend did it and then went out and pitched more and hes actually going to new york for tommy johns in a couple days, so what i would do is wait dont pitch be on the DL for awhile until it starts to feel better if it doesnt id go to a doctor before you aggitate it more
